Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Ketcham Family caught 1 big 327 pound marlin 1 mahi and 3 aku for a spectacular day of marlin fishing
At the appointed hour of 4:45 off we go on this day of 25+ trades going to the west side to hide from the windy seas. Around the point we caught 3 aku and put them in the tubes. Along our way south we had this big marlin slam our rigger and do a few head shakes and then runs out 200 yards and goes balistic jumping and running. At 400 yards it settles down and Paul cranks her back in to about 100 yards and off she goes again jumping out of the water 6 more times, a great show. Then Paul with some help from Scot conviced her to come close and we got her all 327 pounds of her, good going Paul. On our way home we took some hits and one turned into a nice mahi that Tracy landed. You folks were great more seaworthy than you thought it seems. Aloha Capt Rusty

We set forth right on time on this day of 30 kph trades hiding from the wind on the west side. We caught some aku in the area of a bouy then headed south. We had the rigger slam and Scot checked the lure and as he was letting it back out this marlin came up and inhaled the jet on the corner and screamed out 600 yards of line in a big hurry, putting on a jumping show 500 yards away. Jamie did great getting this fish back to the boat in about 25 minutes, where it was easy at gaff. No hits on the way home. These folks were seaworthy for sure as the ride home was bumpy to say the least. Good going it was a pleasure to have you aboard, congradulations on your marlin Jamie. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the dark we set out on this day of 25+ trades going to my favorite buoy. Along the way we took a mahi hit in 65 feet of water and we got a nice mahi. At the  buoy we baited and Scot hooked a double and Harold caught one shibi and so did Scot. Next 2 passes and Herold gets one a pass, He is and experienced angler and did great on these fish today. We went to another buoy and had a mahi eat a bait and then come off. On to the ledge and we get a nice mahi, and never knew we had an ono hit till we saw the leader on a lure was shreded. It was a pleasure having you aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was still dark as we pulled out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot was hooking big shibi 2 or 3 a pass at first, it was some wild action. Then we got 2 small mahi that came by the buoy. And then back to more shibi action. These guys were busy for awhile there, then we set up and trolled. We found one open school of mahi and Scot baited up 4 nice big mahi in it and we got all of them. Good going men you were a pleasure to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

Then we jigged and the small shibi and aku were biting good with a few bigger ones once in a while. These guys did great reeling in fish after fish, they were loving it. Then we set up and trolled but got no hits anywhere, Good going men you were fun to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Josh Wideman, Dan Wideman, Roy Broyles and Jacob Wideman caught 1 340 blue marlin 6 shibim and 7 aku for a fantastic day of marlin catching
We got going at the appointed hour of 5:00 going to my favorite buoy. With 4 miles to go we took a slam on the center and this big marlin came up and jus shook it's head for a few seconds and then screamed out 400 yards of line fast then starts jumping around for 15 seconds then goes down saving it's energy for later. Jacob was the angler and he did a great job on this marlin that did not want to come to the boat. He had her to the boat in about 40 minutes or so and then the next 40 minutes were we could see her but not get her to come in. Finally she came to the boat and was relativly easy at gaff. Then off to the buoy where we jigged and hooked some small aku and shibi. When Scot baited he hooked a few nice size shibi and the boys landed them all. These guys all did great today, but now Jacob holds our largest marlin for the year spot on our top anglers page, aloha guys. Capt Rusty
