Going out looking for a birthday marlin for me on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and Scot hooked a pair of shibi one a big one that Joe started and I finished, lots of fun. We jigged and caught a few small aku and ran one live. When we baited again it was one shibi on each pass for a while. I got to get in the chair a few times for some fun action. Robbie had a shibi that was hooked in the fin that gave him a hard time, it even pulled him out of the chair when it ran to the side one time, but it came aboard in the end. We had a fun day no marlin but a big shibi is always fun. Aloha Capt Rusty

At dawn we set forth on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. We jigged apon arrival and hooked a 10 pound aku and Scot hooked a mahi and a shibi on bait and we landed them all. Next pass 2 more shibi hooked up and came aboard. Next pass one more shibi, then 3 mahi show up and Scot hooks all 3 and we land all of them one a 34 pound bully, it was wild action for a while there. These guys did great on these fish today. At the dock they all ate eyeballs gladly good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Blasting off at 6 on this day of 25 kph trades going deep off the point today. At 17 miles at 7:00 we had a marlin grab our corner and hook up, it came aboard without much argument. On out to 33 miles out where we found a open school and get 2 nice mahi there. On our way back in just about in the same place we landed our marlin another bigger marlin hit the corner lure and jumped 2 times and came off bummer. Then we found one more open school and landed 2 more there. It was a wild long ride in from that far down and out. Aloha Capt Rusty

First day of 2 days of the north shore hanapaa jackpot tounament, at 6 off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. First pass we took an aku hit and land a 14 pound aku. We trolled and baited and trolled and baited and jigged and the net result was the same nothing. Finally late in the day some shibi came up and we got 3 shibi and 3 mahi in 2 passes, unfortunately none were qualifiying weight. One more day to redeem our selves. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the perfect time off we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On our way we took an ono hit but it came off. Arriving on our first pass a small aku slammed the rigger but came off. Next pass a big marlin grabbed the corner lure and jumped twice and then broke line and jumped 4 more times, bummer. So we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live, on a suicide rig. When Scot baited a small shibi and a small mahi was all that came up. An ono eventually chopped our aku and missed the hook. So we set up and trolled the buoy and took a double ono and got one of them. Then on to another buoy where we baited and Scot hooked 3 nice mahi on the first pass and all of them came aboard. Next pass an ono ate a bait and it came sorta close before it came off. At the dock only Ben was bold enough to eat a mahi eyeball gladly, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed time off we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Before the buoy we took and ono hit and landed one. On our second lap around the buoy the rigger took off screaming and going out not down a marlin for sure. We got Jason in the chair and it took out 300 yards of line then started jumping less than 100 yards from us and coming at the line that was still going straight out, all we could do is go ahead and take the huge belly out of the line, the line came tight again and Jason reeled in a lot of line before it jumped a few more times and then came off, bummer. Back at the buoy we jigged and caught a 33 pound shibi and some small aku and ran an aku live. An ono chopped our aku and was on for a second but came off. When we baited Scot hooked a few small shibi and we landed them. Then we set up and trolled to another buoy, on the way we found some mahi and Scot hooked a nice 37 pound bully that Curtis landed. In the harbor Peter an I ate shibi eyeballs, these guys did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

At day break away we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught a few small aku and ran one live. It was promptly chopped in half by an ono, next live aku is on a suicide rig and it gets chopped and the ono misses the trailer hook. So we put out another live aku on a suicide rig and this one slammed down and kept going, it had 200 yards out before it finaly jumped and I could see that it was big. Brandon was the angler and after a 25 minute fight it was close and did a few jumps at only 20 yards out a great show and a perfect way to spend the last of her energy, and relatively easy at gaff, the way we like it. A gorgeous fish, good light up at gaff. Back at the buoy we caught a few more small aku and then set up and trolled to a different buoy. There Scot baited up 5 mahi and had some wild mahi action going on for a while there, these guys did great today on all these fish today. Aloha Capt Rusty

On time and out we go on this rough day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. The ride out did have a few white elephants roaming the landscape, so at the buoy it was rugged too. No hits, not much showing on the scope and not much birds, so we jigged and caught 2 aku and ran one live. When we baited Scot hooked a shibi and we got 3/4 of it. Next pass something cuts the line, a few more passes and we set up and troll to another buoy. There we see some mahi and Scot baits up 2 nice ones and they both came aboard. These guys did great on this day of big waves and high winds. At the pier Scott started it and then everyone ate fish eyeballs, I like it, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Bob Smith, Josh Garnes, Lori Garnes, Mike Smith, Scott Smith and Amy Smith caught 2 ahi and 1 ono for a memorable day of fishing
We set out at the appointed hour on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Right out of the harbor we found some spinner dolphins, and they put on a show for us. Comming off the ledge we hooked an ono and Scott landed it. Then out in the deep we took a double ahi and Josh and Mike both landed big ahi, Joshs' went 111 and Mikes' was 107. In the process of subdueing the last ahi it bounced on and broke our lazaret hatch cover, making it dangerous to navigate at the back of the boat, so we went in to be on the safe side, happy again. These folks did great on this rough day good going guys. I was the only eyeball consumer today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Under cover of darkness and out we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On our second trolling pass we took a double ahi and one stuck and Eric landed a nice 106 pound ahi. Next pass and another ahi grabs a lure and Eric gets one that is 136 pounds, all this before 9 o'clock, wow. As it was rough we went in early but happy. In the harbor only I ate aneyeball, You folks were real troopers today good going. Aloha Capt Rusty
