We got going at 5:00 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we trolled it a few passes, then reeled in and found one of our lures ono chewed, but it never pulled the rigger down. Then we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one with a wire trailer hook live. When we stopped to bait a big barracua ate our bait and was on for a while, but came of. Then Scot got one shibi baiting, and it was back to jigging and lots of nice size aku. When we set up and trolled away we found a small bird pile and it broke up as we got to it. Back to the buoy and baited and jigged but only small aku came up. These guys did good today, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20 kph heading for my favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live. When we baited some big shibi came up and Scot got 3 on the first pass. Then it was steady for a while with one or two a pass, good fun on light tackel. Then we jigged when it got slow and got a few more that way. Back in the harbor these folks both ate eyeballs gladly. They both did real well on this rough day, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:30 on this day of 20+ trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we trolled it and baited it and nothing happened so we trolled away. We had a mystery strike in the blind, then at a different buoy we baited and caught a few nice shibi. We ran 2 aku live and they were promptly chopped off by a big barracuda, we ran 2 aku on suicide rigs and they were chopped in half too. We set up and trolled out and then in where we found an iwa bird and took a marlin hit on the corner. It only took out 200 yards of line and never jumped, Mike was the angler, and in only 20 minutes had this fish to the boat, where it was relativly easy at gaff, a nice 185 blue. Back in the harbor Dennis, Nate and Mike all ate eyeballs gladly, and Mike ate a slice of marlin heart, these guys are some serious fishermen and they did great today on all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 6:00 on this day of 25+ trades going to my old favorite buoy, looking for my birthday marlin, on this rough day. At the buoy we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi, we ran 1 aku live. Nothing came in on our baits so we set up and went to a calmer place but took no hits all the way there and back. This is the time of year when fishing can be really good or really bad, that is just how fishing is. We still had fun. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 4:00 on this day of 15 kph winds going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot got a mahi on and Kevin got it. Then we trolled to a different buoy and caught some aku and shibi there and ran 2 aku live. Eventually an ono or a barracuda came along and chopped our akus off the hook. We jigged for awhile then set up and trolled, we found a red footed albatross in a small peice of net. We pulled it in and cut it out of the net and let it go, and brought the net in. We then had an open school but the fish did not bite for us. In the harbor Kevin and Russel gladly ate eyeballs out of the shibi we had today, these guys loved to fish and it showed, they all did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 6:00 on day 3 going to my next favorite buoy on this day of 15 kph trades. Near the buoy we took an ono hit and got a nice big ono. At the buoy we baited and got 3 nice mahi on our first pass. Then we set up and trolled out, no hits for the rest of the day, but it was enough to put us back in first place, by 3 pounds. At the end of the day we had won the total weight. It was a wild 3 days, we are happy to have won it all. Aloha Capt Rusty

Start time is 6:00 for the Hanapaa, and at 6 we all blasted of the line to the first day of 3 days of fishing, on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we hooked a mahi trolling and got it. When we baited the shark ate us off, so we set up and trolled out. We got 2 miles out and we took an ono hit and got a 41 pounder. One more mile and we had an ahi hit the center and scream some line out and we got it in about 20 minutes. No more hits for the rest of the day, but this catch puts us in first place at the end of day one. Aloha Capt Rusty
