It was way dark as we took off on this day of 20 kph trades going to my buoy. Not much happening at the buoy so we head to a different buoy. There we take a mahi hit and Steve lands a cute mahi. Then we jigg and get 2 small aku. When we baited Scot hooked a big shark and Stephanie got it close enough to see it before it broke the line, bummer. Then on the outside we took an aku hit and landed a 24 pound aku. These folks did great today with these fish good going . Aloha Capt Rusty

Day 2 and we set out going to my favorite buoy with 25 kph trades blowing. In the area of the buoy we take a hit and land a nice big 170 pound ahi. We take one more hit but it comes off. Then we go outside and take another hit and with some good work by the crew land a 137 pounder too. These fish were good enough to put us in about 11th place overall but not good enough for any money. As always it was a great fishing tournament, lots of fun and we will be back next year which will be the 30th year and the last one too. great job men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Day 1 of the hanapaa and we take off at 6 with all the other 35 boats that entered going to my next favorite buoy with 25 kph trades blowing hard. At the bouy we jigged to catch a live aku to run but when Scot hooks one up an ahi eats it as he reeled it in on 50 pound test, so he fought it for 30 minutes before it broke line. Then we got another aku and put it out and an ono chopped it in half. We baited but got no bites so we set up and trolled outside. We took a double in the bilnd and only one stuck and we landed a nice big 195 pound ahi. We set back up and took another double and stuck one more a 100 pounder and it came aboard. We were in 6th place at the end of day one. one more day to fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

With trades blowing 30 we went to the west side to hide from it, In the area of kaena point we got a few small aku good fun on light line then off down the line. Later in the area of a buoy we found a big shool of porpoise, they put on a great show jumping and swiming in the flat calm of the leeward side. Back up the ledge and into the rough water and we somewhere had an ono bite that sliced the skirts but missed the hook. Good going you guys did good today. Aloha Capt Rusty
