Here she is swinging in the sling, getting her posterior end washed
On Monday the transmission went out on our starboard engine, today we hauled out at marisco to pull it and repair it. That means we will be out of service for a week or so depending on how the repair goes. I will keep posting progress reports, on this unsheduled drydock. And to those who had trips booked with us in this time frame, I am sorry to be cancelling your days. Aloha Capt Rusty

Matt Grey and Jim "Rusty" Staub caught 1 ono for a fish today
Right on time off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to the west side to hide from the wind. It looked good birds porpoise lots of life but no hits. We went all the way to the s bouy and baited there and jigged and got nothing. On our way back the transmission on the starboard engine broke down, making a big noise, so we came in on one engine. As we limped along an ono came along and slamed the rigger and Matt landed a nice ono. Back in the harbor only Rusty was game to eat an ono eyeball gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Hanapaa 09 Dino Miranda, Capt Rusty, Joe Beasley, Paul Lindberg, Scot and the hanapaa Queen we caught 6 big shibi, one went 79 pounds
Day 2 and boats blast off in all directions, we go to our spot with 15 kph trades. There we bait and take a double but they both managed to get away. Next pass we get one on and I get to be in the chair and we land a 79 pounder. We had a few more big hits but we missed them. So we caught an aku and ran it live, and it had a hit but not a hookup. When we baited again Scot was hooking some 30 pounders and we landed 3 of them, the action was good but we were only in 15th place in total weight, but it was as always a lot of fun, thanks Hanapaa club. Aloha Capt Rusty

When the flare went up at 6 all 40 boats of the 09 Hanapaa Jackpot Tournament sped out to the fishing grounds with15 kph winds, and we were headed to where we thought some ahi should be. Once there we baited and had some hits but only one 58 pounder and a 30 pounder would bite for us. then we jigged and caught a few aku and ran 2 live, they both took ahi hits but did not hook up. We baited again but got no hits so we set up and trolled. As we chased down an aku school with 20 minutes to go the rigger took of and we landed a nice 135 pound ahi in about 7 minutes, team work. Good going men one more day to go. Aloha Capt Rusty

Scot and Steve Tollefson, Karl Fangman, Dan Daloia, Jon Giuliani caught 1 ahi 7 shibi and 7 aku for a fantastic day of fishing the big one went 187 pounds
In the dark off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a double and one stuck and Dan landed a nice 96 pounder. One more trolling hit and miss and we baited, but got no bitres so we jigged and caught a bunch of small aku and shibi and ran an aku live. When Scot baited again he hooked some nice size shibi the biggest one a 58 pounder that Jon fought to the boat. Then on our way in the center slamed and Karl was in the chair with a 187 pound ahi screaming out 300 yards of line. It took a little over an hour for him to get this fish to the boat with lots of help from Scot. This fish was stuborn at leader, but we got it, good going Karl. Then in the harbor only karl was bold enough to eat an eyeball out of his big ahi, the size of a large marbel, biggest eyeball anyone has eaten in a while and biggest ahi so far this year for us.
