It was dark as we set sail on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy contrary to a false post on bloody becks .com the buoy is still there. We took a mahi hit and got it on our first pass at the buoy. When we came back with bait Scot was getting triples  on at first it was hot action. These guys were busy reeling in one after another. Then we got lucky and hooked an ono and got it on 80 pound test mono, a gift from god as it had almost cut the line. Then we jigged and caught 5 small aku then set up and trolled outside. We found a few open schools and got more mahi there. On our way in we took a ono hit and got another ono. And a mahi in the blind that came aboard too. Good going men you guys did great on all thses fish today. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the 6 AM start 40 boats took off on day one of the 30th annual Hanapaa Jackpot tournament with 25+ kph trades blowing we headed for my favorite buoy. There we baited and hooked a small mahi and then Scot got a big bully on and we got them both the bully went 28 and was the biggest mahi of day one so it wins us 500 bucks. A few more small mahi and off we go looking for bigger fish. We take an ono hit in an aku pile and land a 19 pounder. Lots more trolling and no more hits for us. Day 2 was only 2 small mahi and we had a shot at a big mahi but it got away. It was fun as always and thanks to the Hanapaa Club for putting this on every year for so long Malalo. Aloha Capt Rusty
