Kelly Askvig, Brian Skalleruel and Ned Lemieux caught 1 mahi 1 shibi and one 190# ahi for a super day of fishing
At first light out we go on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we took an aku hit on our first pass and then came back with bait. We took a triple an ended up with one shibi and 1 ahi on, it got scary as the one 60 pound shibi kept us from backing down as we got very close to the end of the line, with 80 on a 50 tiagra, with 100 pound leader, it stopped with maybe 20 feet of line to go. Then it was all Ned as he spent the next hour and a half pumping up this monster, and Kelly landed a 60 pounder on 60 pound test. It was a great battle on 80, it just took time and Ned brought it up just right, a new year to date record for us a 190 pound ahi. We went back to the buoy and baited up a 45 pound mahi that ate 2 baits and with some reeling by Brian came aboard. We saw a whaleshark today it came by but not as close as some we have seen. Back in the harbor all these guys ate eyeballs gladly and then Scot offered them some of the heart and they all ate a piece, good going guys you did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

The Bain Family Dan, Cocoa, Brooke and Jessica caught 1 mahi 3 shibi and 3 aku for a real fun day
A clear sky as we got underway at first light on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. We jigged for a short while and caught 1 aku before we baited and hooked a big shibi that Dan landed on 60 that was a 50 pounder. Then he landed 2 more big ones the largest a 60 pounder on 80. Then 2 mahi showed up and Scot hooked one and we landed it. On our way back up I saw a marlin splash near the buoy and when we came by with baits out a nice marlin ate one bait off the hook and then ate the other one and broke 80 on the run bummer. These folks did super today on all these fish. In the harbor Brooke was first then Dan as they ate shibi eyeballs quickly, I like it. Good going it was fun. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed hour off we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and had several hits but nothing stuck, so we jigged. We caught a bunch of small aku and shibi and ran an aku live. When we baited again Scot hooked one big shibi and Jen landed a nice 41 pounder, a good fight. We baited more but got no hits. We had an ono chop our aku and cut the line no hook left. In the harbor only John was bold enough to eat a shibi eyeball gladly, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Paul Rusu and his crew mates from the Kittyhawk caugth 1 marlin 235 pounds and 1 aku and one shibi for a fun day today
In the dark out we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On the way we found an open school but got nothing. At the buoy we baited and had a few hits but no hookups, so we jigged and caught one aku and one shibi and lost a few. Then we set up and trolled to another buoy where we took a marlin hit on the corner that screamed and then started jumping all around, it put on a great show before it settled down and Michael reeled it in in about 45 minutes, and it was easy at gaff too. This is our year to date biggest marlin. Good going men. In the harbor Mike and Paul were bold enough to eat marlin eyeballs. You guys still have my notebook sorry no names without the book. Aloha Capt Rusty

Jim Turpin and Robert Disel caught 3 mahi for a little fun today
Right on time out we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Along the way we found a small net floating and got a mahi there. Then we found another net the hard way, in the props,so while we were dead in the water as I spent considerable time cutting away net and rope Scot hooked up and the guys landed 2 more mahi. I finaly got the starboard prop cleared, and the long ropes off the port side so we could limp in on one motor. That was not fun, and I am lucky that I only got hit on the head once very gently, while trying to cut while the boat is moving up and down 2 feet. Back in the harbor I spent another 45 minutes cutting away at the port side before it was free, don't try this at home. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Milo Barrett-Wilsdon, Nate Wilsdon, Alec Wilsdon, Landon Beamer and Scott Wilsdon caught 1 ono 8 shibi and 1 aku for a great day today
It was a calm morning as we set out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and started hooking big shibi right a way, we had lots of fish that came off but the kids got it together and were landing some nice big shibi. Then we hooked and landed an ono on 80 a gift from above, lucky to land it we were. We had a few doubles and got them both. The action was hot today and these guys did great reeling in all these fish good going men. One reason today was good is that there was a big high tide mid morning today, always a good thing. Back in the harbor only Scott was bold enough to eat a shibi eyeball gladly, good going I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the darkness we depart on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught 2 small aku and ran one live. When Scot baited he had lots of hits before he hooked one shibi and one mahi, the mahi got lucky and the shibi came in the boat. Then it was slow but steady shibi bite and these folks did great on all these big shibi, the biggest one Cheryl landed was 58 pounds, a great fight on light line. We had a shark maul one of our shibi on the way in leaving us a big head and some tail. A rough day, just what the fish like, and these folks handled real well good going. A pleasure to have aboard. Adam and Keith Warren caught 1 marlin a nice 188 pounder and 5 shibi and 7 aku for a great day of fishing
Yes it was dark as we got underway this morning with 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. There we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live. When Scot baited he only had one hit but it came off so we jigged some more. Then a marlin grabbed our aku and hooked up, it only jumped once, but that was enough to let us know how big it was. Adam was the angler and he had this fish to the boat in about 30 minutes, a great fight. And it was easy at gaff too. Then we baited a bunch more but only small kine came up. These guys did great today. In the harbor Adam was bold enough to eat a shibi eyeball with only a slight pause, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty
