Still dark as we got underway with 25 kph trades blowing headed for my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited but got no hits so we set up and trolled out. At about 22 miles we took a marlin hit that screamed the corner pole and took out 200 yards of line and then was jumping back towards us only 30 yards off to the side it came off right then, bummer. Then not 5 minutes later the rigger slams and screams out 300+ yards and comes off, another marlin. Later another marlin hit the plunger on the corner and shook it's head and came off, there seems to be a few marlin around now. We found 1 open school and Scot baited up 7 nice mahi it was some wild action for a bit there, and these guys did great on these fish today. Aloha Capt Rusty

On time in the dark off we go with 25kph trades going to a west side buoy. At the buoy  we baited and had a slam but did not stick it no more hits so we jigged and caught a couple of aku and ran one live. When Scot baited again he hooked 2 small shibi on light line and we landed them both. Along our way home we took a blind strike mahi the big bully gave Doug a great fight. Then we found an open school and Scot baited up 4 more mahi the bully was 32 pounds in this school. A big bird pile produced a double aku and we landed 2 nice 10 pound aku. Then right outside the harbor the center slamed with a mahi but it came right off. These folks did great today good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Then we came back with bait and Scot was hooking one or 2 a pass for a while, it was great mahi action. Then we jigged and we caught 2 aku and 1 shibi. Right on time and off we go with 25 kph trtades going to a west side buoy. At the buoy we jigged and caught an aku and ran it live. Then as we reeled in another aku a marlin followed it in and then proceded to follow us around for 10  minutes. A second marlin even showed up and we could not get them to eat a live aku, we just watched as they swam around our bait .Scot almost had one eat it as he skipped it across the water but it only rushed it and turned away, bummer. When we baited Scot hooked a small mahi first then they just kept getting bigger. Ben landed a nice 25 pound bully, the biggest out of the 5 in one pass. We came back and Scot hooked a real big mahi but it threw the hook after some wild jumps. These folks did great on this rough day, and on these fish good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At first light off we go with 25+ kph trades going to a west side buoy.A long the way we caught a kawakawa and put it in the tube. At the buoy we put out our kawa and then baited but got no hits so we jigged but could not get a bite. Then we saw the problem a big marlin came in and took a good look at our kawakawa but did not make the move on it. Then the aku started biting and we ran 2 aku live. We even caught a small shibi and a small mahi jigging. It was a rough ride home but on the way we found some mahi and Scot baited one up and Eddie landed it. These guys did great on this day of wind and rain with strong winds too good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Tinsley Family again Happy, Chuck, Mark caught 1 mahi 1 marlin that went #139 for a great day of fishing today.
Right on time off we go with 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked a mahi and Chuck landed a nice wahine. We baited more but got no hits so we jigged and caught a few small aku and ran one live. Nothing happened so we set up and trolled up untill we found an open school but they did not bite. In the blind we took a marlin hit that screams out 150 yards of line and comes off, then as Scot is reeling the lure back in I notice the marlin following the lure right back to the boat. Scot and I quickly drop out a live bait and this marlin is ready to eat and when we set the hook it only shook it's head it was hooked deep, it took out half as much line as it did with the lure. Then it was Happy in the chair and he did great getting this fish to the boat in about 15 minutes, it was easy at gaff sorta, and lit up like a neon sign when I gently tapped it on the head with a sledge hammer, some of the color is still showing in the pectoral fin. These guys did great today in this nice water good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was still dark as we set out on this day of 25+ kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. It was a wild ride getting to the buoy, but worth it as on our first bait pass we hook a nice mahi and Mark lands it. Next pass and one more mahi eats a bait and we are hanapaa again, and one more comes aboard. Then we missed a few and got a few and then the last one is the big bully and he gives Mark a great fight on 80 on a tiagra lrs50, it fought hard all the way. No hits on the way in but in the harbor all of these guys ate mahi eyeballs galdly, good going on this rough wild day. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Thacker Family Davis, John, Jane, Chasen, Larson and Barbie Coleman caught 4 mahi 10 aku and 1 shibi for lots of fun action today
At the appointed hour off we go headed to my next favorite buoy. Along the way we had a tiny mahi eat a 7 inch lure on the rigger and Barbie landed it. At the buoy we took a double mahi and landed them both. When we came back with bait Scot hooked a nice size mahi and Jane landed a 20 pound mahi, our biggest of the day. Then we jigged and the aku were biting good doubles most times and we ran one live. When the bite shut off we set up and trolled but found nothing. These folks were great to have aboard and they did real good angeling these fish too. Back in the harbor all the guys ate fish eyeballs gladly, I like it, it was fun to have you with us today. Aloha Capt Rusty
