In the dark off we go with 15 kph trades blowing headed for my next favorite buoy and beyond. Way outside we found a few birds but got no hits. Then we saw big aku boiling with no birds around at all, we followed and took a double and landed both of them. After chasing  them around we took a double and got 1 this time then they were gone. We found one open school and had a mahi hit the corner and come off and the birds flew away. These guys did good on this long day, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed hour off we go with 10- trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and got no hits so we jigged and caught 3 small shibi and ran one live. Nothing happened so we set up and trolled out and down and found some aku schools. It looked like small aku and they would not bite. We ended up at another buoy and baited there. We had a barracuda chop a live shibi and come off. On our way in we found an open school and managed to bait up a mahi and Gabriella landed a nice one. Back in the harbor both Charlie and Gabriella ate mahi eyeballs gladly, good going you guys did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Rod and Stefanie Forester caught 1 marlin (177 pounds) 2 mahi 1 ono for a super day of fishing today on the Kuuloa Kai
Right on time in the dark off we go with 10 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and had one hit and missed it, we jigged and could not catch a shibi or aku so we baited again. This time a marlin ate a bait and started jumping wildly and it was game on, only it was on a 30  tiagra with 80 pound test. Rod hopped into the chair and spent the next hour and 45 minutes pumping this big fish up. Good thing he was in good shape cuse this was a serious fight, this fish was all over up and down a few nice jumps sorta close and then all spent at gaff the way we like them. Rod never missed a beat he kept a tight line all the way, an epic battle on such a small reel. And the secret to landing this fish wass that it was hooked in the corner of the mouth. On our way in we found an open school and Scot baited up 2 nice mahi and Stefanie and Rod each landed one. Then we had on ono slam and Rod boated a nice 30 pound ono to cap off a great day. It was great to talk guns, knives and motorcycles with Rod too. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the darkness off we go on this day of 25+ kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we jigged and then baited only small kine. Then off we go outside looking around, we found one nice open school and we baited up 2 nice mahi Angel landed the bully. Then we had a blind strike marlin slam the center and scream out 300 yards before it jumped a bunch and gave us a look at her. Then it was Matt in the chair pumping and  cranking away for about 45 minutes, he did great getting this big fish to the boat that fast. It gave Scot a good workout at leader and when it came up I put the flying gaff in and Scot grabbed a fixed gaff and hooked the head and Angel put the meat hook in and she was ours. A great battle it was. Back in the harbor Matt was the man and ate a big juicy marlin eyeball quite gladly. This is Angels 6th trip with us and it just shows if you keep on going sooner or later a marlin will come along and make your day. Good going you guys did great today, see you next time. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time in the dark off we go with 15 kph variable winds going to a west side buoy. At the buoy we baited and took a hit that was a nice shibi but a shark ate it. Next hookup is the shark and Jason reels it all the way to the boat where I gave it a stern talking to and it broke line right there. We baited more and a mahi ate a bait and we landed it. Then we jigged and caught 1 aku and ran it live. We baited a bit more but no hits. We took the long way home but only found some aku schools that did not bite. These guys did great, good going men. In the harbor Lance was the eyeball eater today, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Corinna Cheng, Tom Cheng, Albert Shen and Angela Shen caught 2 marlin and 4 mahi for super fantastic day of fishing
In the first light out we go  on this day of 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked a mahi and we landed it, then we set up and trolled out. Around a big metal tank Scot baited up 3 more mahi, Angela got the big one a nice 20 pounder. Then as we set up to troll some birds poped up and just as some mahi were going for the corner a marlin hits the center and starts jumping and screams out 500 yards of line and jumps all over a great show, then it's Tom in the chair and with some help from Scot and Albert he lands a nice 200 pound marlin. Then on our way back in we had a marlin hit the corner and jump and scream out 400 yards real fast, this time it was Albert in the chair and with a bit of help had this fish to the boat in 20 minutes. Good going you folks did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the dark off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to a west side buoy. Along the way we found a small floater and took a single trolling and came back with bait and Scot baited up a bunch more we had 3 on at once. It was some great action. At the buoy  we baited and got no hits so we jigged and caught an aku and ran it live. When Scot baited again he hooked a small shibi and a few more too. These guys did great onthis rough day good going guys you did good today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Gary Garrison, Paul Okamura, Jeff and Krista Ward caught 1 ono and 5 aku for some fun today
Nice and early off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to a west side buoy. Along the way we had an ono strike and Paul landed a nice 25 pound ono. At the buoy we baited but got no bites so we jigged and caught 2 aku and ran one live. Before long a marlin came in and ate our aku, Scot had it set and the marlin jumped and came off. Then it followed the aku and ate it again, this time it just shook it's head and came off, the leader was chafed almost 2 feet up so the bait was deep but just came out, bummer. We caught more aku and ran 2 and had one more marlin grab a bait but miss the hook. On our way home we had a marlin hit the corner and scream out 150 yards and come off, the marlin got lucky today. These folks did great on this rough day good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the right time off we go with 25 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. Nothing at the buoy so off into the deep we go. We found some open schools and caught one small one in the first one and 3 nice size mahi in the last school, it was nice action while it lasted. Back at the buoy we baited but nobody came in. These folks have been with us 5 times now. And in the harbor Jeff was up for a mahi eyeball eating as usual, always great to have you guys on board see you next time. Aloha Capt Rusty
