There was a bit of surf in the 6-8 foot range with trades of 25 kph this morning going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and got one nibble and no more so off to the marlin hole we go. As soon as we got into the area we had a slam and this marlin runs out 300 yards of line in hurry not jumping once, with Perry in the chair he had her to the boat in about 25 minutes, a good workout,  and in the boat she came. We set up and took another slam that screamed and jumped till it came off 100 yards out, bummer. Then we found 3 white birds and hooked a mahi trolling and baited up one more big bully and landed them both, wild action it was. These guys did good on this rough day with big fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was going to be blowing at 25 kph as we head for my favorite marlin hole. On the way we found 2 open schools and got  2 in each one, great way to start the day. When we got to the area the birds looked good, but as good as it looked we took no hits for a long time. When we did take a hit it was another mahi and we got it. Birds all over but no bites. These guys did great with the fish we caught today, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

We set out with 20 kph trades going to my favorite marlin hole. On the way we found an open school of mahi and hooked one trolling and Scot baited up 3 more nice  ones, the biggest one Jennifer caught went 40 pounds. Out in the area we took a marlin hit that ran out 400+ yards of line and Rick reeled it in to about 50 yards to go and it made some moves shook it's head and came off the hook, bummer.  Shorty after we took another marlin hit and this one peeled out 300 yards or so and Molly was the angler this time, and with some help from Rick, landed this 189 pounder, good going. These folks said they were seaworthy and they proved it today, and they love to fish and are lucky too, I must agree. Back in the harbor they all ate eyeballs, Molly was bold enough to eat one of her marlins big eyeballs, I like it, you guys did great today, a pleasure to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right at 5:45 off we go on this day of 20+ trades going to my favorite marlin hole. Along the way we found 1 iwa and hooked a mahi and Scot baited one more up and we landed 2 nice big mahi. Next pile is an albatross and an iwa and we hook a mahi trolling and I baited up one more and the boys land 2 more mahi. When we get to the area we take a marlin hit on the corner and it screams out 400+ yards of line jumping most of the way, and Cade took the chair and reeled this fish to the boat in about 30 minutes a great fight it was and he never missed a beat. Then we saw lots of bird action but got no hits till a big 42 pound wahine hit the rigger and Pat reeled it and she came aboard. These guys did great today, they even both gladly ate mahi eyeballs, I like it, good going men.

We had trades of 15-20 with some squalls in the morning going to my favorite marlin hole. In the area we took a marlin strike and Dustin did great getting this fish to the boat in about 25 minutes after it screamed out 400 yards of line and it only jumped once, a good fight. Then we found a few birds and it looked good but we got no hits so we headed to a bouy and with 2 miles to go we had another marlin strike and this one jumped and ran and jumped some more untill it broke 300 leader as it was heading in a big U going 50 miles an hour still jumping, bummer. Then we jigged at the buoy and caught 1 small shibi and baited nobody home. On our way in we found some birds and took a mahi hit and Scot baited up 2 more nice size mahi, one a 30 pounder, Dustin landed them all perfectly. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time out we go to my favorite marlin hole with 20 kph trades blowing. As soon as we got to the area we found some birds and took a marlin hit and landed a nice one about 150. We set up and went back but no birds up now but we took a hit in the blind and hooked and landed one more marlin, by 9:30. Then we trollled around alot with no hits, no birds. Then one more blind strike and we put another marlin in the boat, they are finding the hooks today. Then we take 2 more hits that both come off, we had to lose a few. This was wild marlin action at it's best. Mark was game to eat a marlin eyeball gladly. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got underway on time with 20 kph trades going out to the 1,000 fathom curve where some marlin have been showing up. We found a few birds working and took a marlin strike that screamed out 300 yards of line and then came off after 10 minutes bummer. Shortly after that we took 2 more hits that screamed and then came off. A patern was developing. A couple more came off before we hade one on that almost spooled us. While it was on another marlin was hiting a lure on the rigger only 30 feet behind the boat, it finaly hooked up and at the same time the first one broke line. Patrick was the angler and with a few minor problems we landed a nice 100 pound marlin. We took more hits that all came off, for a total of about 10 hits, this was the most marlin action we have seen in a long time. Back in th harbor Patrick almost ate a marlin eyeball. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the buoy we jigged and baited but got nothing so we set up and trolled to another buoy. There we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi, and ran a small aku live and baited. 3 mahi showed up and we hooked 2 and one came off and Jeff landed a nice 30 pounder, a great fight on 60. We baited more but noting came so in we trolled. In the harbor they both were game to eat mahi eyeballs gladly, good going you did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Jim Honniball caught 5 big aku for some fun today
At the proper time off we go on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Not much going on at the buoy so we keep going outside but find nothing out there either. Back to the buoy and we bait and jig and only get one tiny aku. We set up and troll up and find an aku school and take a single and land one. Next time they came up we took a 4 banger and landed 4 out of 4, it was wild action for a short time there, and Jim did great with what we had on, and they were the biggest aku we have caught all year too. Back in the harbor Jim was ready to eat an aku eyeball and he did gladly. Jim loves to fish and it showed, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty
