Esa Moonah, Risa Samai, Ramnath Samai, & Rosa Samai caught 6 nice size yellowfin and 2 small yellowfin
|
Friday, January 24, 2014 We left the harbor late, on a chilly winter morning. We headed to a buoy with no bites on the way. At the buoy, we were clearing lines when the outrigger came down and we hooked a yellowfin tuna. Esa reeled in a nice 16 pounder. We came back with bait and caught five more. Rosa and Risa reeled in most of these. "Lady Luck" Great job gals! We caught three small yellowfin, but one was too small and we threw it back. No strikes on the way home, but we saw several pods of whales. Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

Dave Damico, Chris Damico, & Scott New caught 3 yellowfin tuna
|
Monday, January 20, 2014 We left the harbor at 6:30 am in light winds with a big swell. It was a real nice day. We headed to our first buoy with no strikes on the way. At the buoy we put some baits out and had a triple hookup, but only two stayed on. We landed them both. We came back and hooked one more. While we were fighting it, the porpoise showed up We hurried and got it in fast, before the porpoise got a second bite. The porpoise spoiled the party again, so off to another buoy. We ran bait but no bites. We hit another buoy but nothing biting there either, so we headed out. We did get a strike on the center rigger but it didn't get the hook. No other action, so we headed home. We didn't catch many fish today, but the three we caught were good eating size. Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

Dave Gill, Chris Suda, Stick Hunter, & Carter Stapleton caught 6 yellowfin and 1 mahimahi
|
Friday January 17, 2014 We left the harbor after daybreak since the surf was really big. Once we made it out, it was a pretty nice day. We headed to a buoy and hooked a yellowfin on our first pass. Made another pass and landed a second yellowfin. Then we ran a few baits and had a double hookup and reeled in two more yellowfin tuna. We kept baiting, had another double hookup but one came off, and we landed the other. We had another yellowfin hookup that was hooked in the tail. As we were reeling it in, porpoise showed up and bit the head off, leaving us with the good part, for a change. No fighting the porpoise, so we headed to another buoy. At the buoy we ran live bait, and caught one small mahimahi. No other bites, so we headed for the ledge. We spotted something on the port outrigger, it came down, the starboard came down, and a third one was chasing us, but we didn't get any of them to stick. And no bites on the way in. We saw whales in the morning and again in the afternoon, which always adds to a beautiful day. Great fishing guys! Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

Dan Ritch, Brad Bell, Louie Chaplinski, Iggy Conley, Cayman Conley, & Dan Chaplinski caught 2 mahimahi & 4 yellowfin
|
Wednedsay, January 15, 2014 We left the harbor right on time, in ideal weather conditions. We headed to our first buoy. We went by the buoy with bait and took a double. We landed two yellowfin tuna. We had another yellowfin bite, but the swivel broke and we lost it. Then we hooked a mahimahi. While we were reeling it in, we hooked a second mahimahi. and landed them both. The bites shut down, so we headed to another buoy. We weren't getting bites at this buoy, then we saw the porpoise. No use fighting the porpoise, the porpoise usually get the fish. We hit another buoy on our way home, but nothing was biting. And no bites on the way in, but we did get to see pilot whales. It was a pleasure getting to fish with you again. These guys are some of our military's finest. Aloha Scot & Captain Steve

Mike, John, Kirill, Alex, & Alex caught 7 Yellowfin & 4 Aku

Sunday Jan. 12. 2014 We left the harbor at daybreak in light tradewinds. On the way to our first buoy, the center came down, it took a little line, and jumped once. We had a small marlin, then it came off. We ran live bait at the buoy but no takers, so we headed to another buoy. We baited up and hooked a yellowfin tuna. Then we caught 5 more. They stopped biting, so we started jigging. We caught 4 skipjack tuna and about 8 yellowfin. Most these yellowfin were small, and we threw them back. Coming home, we had a double marlin strike, but neither of them stuck. We did get to see whales right outside the harbor, making for a nice end to our day. Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve
