We left the harbor early in light winds.  We headed to a buoy and had a strike on the way.  James reeled in a 19 pound mahimahi.  We continued to the buoy, ran bait, and took a double hit.  Ludwig reeled in a 15 pound yellowfin and James reeled in a 12 pound aku.  We made another pass and landed another yellowfin.  We came back again and took another double.  Ludwig and Carina each landed a 40 pound yellowfin.  It was time to head in, so we set our trolling lures, and headed back to the harbor.  We were almost home when our corner lure took a hit and we had an ono on.  Ludwig jumped in the chair and reeled in a 29 pound ono.  We raised our 4th flag, and proceeded home.  Great fishing everyone!  Hope to see you again.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor at 5:15 am in perfect trolling waters.  We headed to a buoy with no bites on the way.  We ran bait at the buoy and hooked a yellowfin tuna.  It took a lot of line, put up a good fight, but Rainer landed him.  It weighed in at 61 pounds.  Nice fish!  We came back with more bait and took a double strike.  Rainer landed a 14 pound yellowfin.  We caught one more 15 pound yellowfin, then headed to another buoy in search of mahimahi.  On the way, Hunter spotted a floating branch with a bird sitting on it.  We baited up and hooked and landed a mahimahi.  We caught two more, then continued on to the buoy.  We ran bait at the buoy and had a double mahimahi hookup.  One jumped hook and Rainer landed the other.  We made another pass and hooked another mahimahi.  Hunter reeled in the biggest mahimahi of the day, weighing 22 pounds.  No bites on the way home, but a great catch and another fun day.  Looking forward to tomorrow.  Aloha, Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve

We headed out a little late in light winds.  We got to our first buoy, made a few laps but nothing there, so we headed to the next buoy.  We got to the next buoy and brought out the small gear.  We jigged up a few small yellowfin for marlin bait.  We ran a couple live baits, but after a mile or so with no bites, we brought them in, and set our trolling lines again.  Ten minutes later, BAMM!  Our center lure slammed and Captain Rusty's favorite marlin lure had taken a strike.  A minute later it jumped and confirmed it was a big marlin.  Rainer jumped in the chair and Scot cleared the other lines.  Rainer had 400 meters of line to reel, plus she was jumping all over.  45 minutes later, we had her in the boat.  We set lines for trolling, hit another buoy on our way in, but no other bites.  Still a stellar day.  At the scale, our marlin weighed in at 349 pounds, putting Rainer Heffentrager on our top angler scoreboard for 2014.  Great fishing men!  Looking forward to your next trip out.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor at our designated time in 5-15 kph trades.  We got to our first buoy and took a mahimahi strike on our first pass.  Maile jumped in the chair and battled in a 10 pound wahine.  We headed towards another buoy and saw a mahimahi eyeing our lure.  We put out bait and within a couple minutes we had him hooked.  Kili jumped in the chair and the battle began.  He took a lot of line, jumped a few times, and put up a good fight.  Kili won the battle and landed a 15 pound 5 ounce mahimahi bull.  We hit another buoy on our way in, but no other bites.  It was a beautiful day on the ocean, and these young anglers did a great job today.  Alright!  Hope to see you again.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor a little early in 10-20 kph trades.  We headed to a buoy and started hooking mahimahi and yellowfin, one after another.  Not sure what was up today, but we had four fish that were foul hooked.  A couple were tail hooked and put up quite the fight, but we landed them all.  We were also jigging while baiting, and caught 5 aku and a few smaller yellowfin.  It was a steady bite all day.  No stikes on the way back to the harbor, but a fun day and a great catch.  It's always a pleasure fishing with repeat anglers.  Hope to see you again soon.  Aloha, Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right on time in variable winds.  We headed to a buoy with no bites on the way.  We baited at the buoy, took a strike, but it didn't stick.  Not much else was happening, so we headed to another buoy.  The next buoy was junk too, so we headed to another buoy.  We baited and jigged at the buoy and took a double yellowfin tuna hookup.  We landed two 10 pound yellowfin.  We came back and hooked and landed a 15 pound yellowfin.  We jigged up a small aku, then it was time to head in.  On the way to the harbor we found a little floater and hooked two mahimahi.  One jumped and threw the hook, and we landed the other.  Not a huge catch, but we are all eating mahimahi tonight.  Another great day on the ocean, hope to get you out there again soon.  Aloha, Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve

We left the harbor at noon in 10 kph trades, and headed to a buoy.  A mile out of the harbor, we had an ono strike on our corner pole.  It was a screamer, taking 100 yards of line before biting through our 300lb test leader, and running off with our hook and lure.  It was an exciting start to our afternoon.  At the buoy, we ran some bait, and started catching 10-12 pound yellowfin.  We came back with more bait and landed a nice 20 pounder.  We were jigging while baiting, and caught a skipjack tuna and a few more yellowfin, one weighing 28 pounds.  It was steady action all afternoon.  Great angling men!  Everyone is eating yellowfin tonight.  Alright!  It was a pleasure fishing with you and hope to see you again.  Aloha, Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right on time in light winds.  We headed to a buoy, ran bait, and had our first strike pretty quick.  We landed a yellowfin tuna.  We came back with more bait and landed another.  We had one double hookup, and landed them both.  One weighed in at 52 pounds.  Way to go Bill!  Laura reeled one in that was lassoed (tail wrapped).  It only weighed ten pounds, but took a lot of muscle to land it.  We tried jigging and caught one more yellowfin and two aku.  No bites on the way in, but a beautiful morning and a nice catch.  It was a pleasure having you onboard.  Aloha, Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve
