Yoko Suizu, Ryuji Murayama, Kaori Murayama and Makoto Suizu caught 1 mahi and 12 shibi for a super day of fishing
Right on time out we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On our way we took a hit that came back and hit again but did not stick. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked some nice shibi right away, and we landed one or two a pass. Then Scot hooked a nice mahi and Kaori landed it. A few more shibi and another mahi hooked up but came off near the boat. The action was steady today and these folks were solid, they did great on all these fish. the biggest one a 30 pounder. In the harbor both the guys ate shibi eyeballs gladly, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Patrick and Cody Patterson caught 7 shibi and 2 aku for a great day
At the appointed hour off we go on this day of 10 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy, it was so flat we went 17 knots all the way there. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked a few mid size shibi, Cody reeled the first few in. Then we had one on that broke line on the run. A few pases later and Scot sets the hook on a 75 pounder and Patrick fights it for about an hour on 60 pound test on a TLD25 before it came to the boat and Scot gaffed it aboard. A great battle it was. We get a few more shibi and then we jig and catch a couple of small aku and run one live. No more bait bites and no hits on the way in. These guys did real good on all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

Light rain was falling as we took off on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. There we baited and Scot hooked an 80 pound shibi and Darrell took advantage of John being in the head at the time and jumped into the chair and did a great job reeling that fish in. A few smaller shibi later and Scot got another big one on and John landed a 50 pounder. The bite was steady with the mid size shibi, great fun on light line. These guys did great on all these fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dieter Hahn caught 32 shibi and 1 ono for an fantastic day of fishing oh yea Scot and I had to help a little
At the crack of dawn off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to a buoy far away. On our way we hooked an ono and Deiter landed it. At the buoy Scot baited and hooked three 12 pound shibi and we got them all. Then we set up and trolled out and found some birds working and took a 5 banger bigeye tunas and landed 4 of them, oh yea there was a big net there too. When we came back trolling we took a triple and got 2. On the next pass we just kept on hooking up and got about 12 all averaging 40 pounds, it was wild action with the fish biteing as close as 10 feet from the transom. Dieter got a real workout on these fish, he did great and just kept on reeling in one after another after another. The biggest one was a 80 pounder. This was some of the best action we have had in a while. Great job Deiter, you did a fantastic job. Aloha Capt Rusty

Ian and Suzanna Fergusson caught 1 mahi and 2 shibi for some fun today
At the appointed time off we go on this day of 10 kph winds going to a far away buoy. There we baited and Scot hooked a mahi on our second pass and Ian landed it. A few more passes and a shibi hooks up and Suzanna gets it. One more shibi and the bite stops, so we set up and trolled out. We had a mystery slam on the center but it came off. It was a super flat day, glassy for most of the day. In the harbor I was the only one to eat an eyeball. Aloha Capt Rusty

The first picture of our 38 mediteranean in Haleiwa, with Jamie on the bow and Dino on the pier
We pulled out of Kona at 5:30 pm on sunday and only went 10 minutes before one of the 2 poles we brought took off with a nice 25 pound mahi and we landed it, a great way to start our trip. It was a classic sunset too. Then off across the channel to Maui, around the back side of Lanai and down to Oahu. The boat handeled real well in the seas we had. We saw some small mahi on the penguin banks but got no hits. As we got real close to home, just on the south side of Kaena Pt. we took a double 25 pound shibi and got them both. Then going up the ledge we saw more bird life than we did on all the rest of our trip, there is no place like home. It took us 24 hours to get here going straight no stops. We are moored for now on the end of the 200 peir till I can get all of our paper work done to start chartering her. Aloha Capt Rusty
