Andrew Foster, Lindsey Hoell, Rolph Jenette, Molly William, Steve Charleston, & Mike Charleston caught 6 aku, 4 yellowfin, & 1 ono
|
Thursday February 13, 2014 We left the harbor at 9:30 am on a last minute 1/2 day charter. We headed to a buoy, started jigging, and caught four yellowfin tuna and six skipjack tuna. We ran a skipjack around for awhile looking for a marlin, but no luck. We had ono's biting our bait, but they wouldn't take the hook. It started getting rough, so we headed inward. We hooked and landed an ono on our way in. We also had something big hit our center rig and take line. It jumped, but we couldn't tell what it was for sure, then it came off. We saw whales everywhere today, even right outside the harbor, inside the red buoy. It was another fun-filled day on the Kuuloa Kai. Aloha Scot & Captain Steve

John caught 2 ono, 2 yellowfin, 2 aku, & 1 mahimahi
|
Tuesday, February 11, 2014 We left the harbor in the dark in calm ocean conditions. We headed to a buoy but no action there so we headed out and found a current line. We followed the current line, took a double ono strike, and landed them both. Ten minutes later, we caught a nice mahimahi. Then we caught a couple aku in an aku pile. We headed back to the buoy and caught two yellowfin tuna. We also lost two, one right at the back of the boat. We saw whales all over the place today. No bites on the way in, but we did have four flags flying. Great fishing, John. Aloha Scot & Captain Steve.

Wednesday February 5, 2014 We left the harbor in the dark and headed for a buoy. We got a triple bite off four lines. We landed three big-eye tuna. We baited up some more and caught two yellowfin tuna. We jigged around and caught a skipjack tuna. No other bites so we headed to another buoy. We had a double hookup and landed one yellowfin and one mahimahi. Then we baited some more and landed another mahimahi. We kept baiting and waiting and caught 2 more mahimahi. We hit another buoy on the way home, but no other bites. Good fishing everyone! Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

Chris & Tracy Shen caught a mahimahi and a yellowfin tuna
|
Tuesday, February 4, 2014 We left the harbor at 8:45 for a half day charter. We saw a pod of whales right outside the harbor. We headed to a buoy and missed our first strike on the corner. We came back with bait and hooked a yellowfin tuna. Chris landed a nice 14 pounder. We hooked another fish, but it wrapped around the buoy and broke the line. We lost another yellowfin right at the back of the boat. As we were heading home, we hooked a mahimahi on the starboard outrigger. Chris reeled in a 12 pounder. We saw more whales on the way in, and some spouting and jumping in the distance. It was a pleasure having you onboard again. Aloha Scot & Captain Steve

Noelle Stevenson-Milner, Diane Milner-Stevenson, & Lisa Holmstrom caught 6 yellowfin & 6 aku
|
Friday, January 31, 2014 We left the harbor at daybreak, another beautiful day. We reached our first buoy, ready with bait. We had a triple yellowfin hookup but only landed two. We came back and landed another two yellowfin, then the porpoise showed up. We headed to another buoy but nothing there, so we headed to another buoy. We caught six skipjack tuna and four small yellowfin. We threw two of the small yellowfin back. No other bites, but we did see whales both ways. These girls have fished with us so many times I've lost count. Looking forward to your next fishing trip. Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

Saturday, January 25, 2014 We left the harbor at 6:20 am in 15-20 kph trades. We headed to a buoy with no bites on the way. At the buoy we baited around and hooked a yellowfin tuna. We continued bating and catching. We had a triple hookup and landed one mahimahi and two yellowfin. We kept catching yellowfin and lost a few mahimahi. All together we caught a dozen nice size yellowfin, one small yellowfin, and one mahimahi. The winds picked up and it was time to head home. We saw several pods of whales, and got to see some jumping. No bites on the way in, but a great day's catch. These guys fished with us last fall, and we hope to see you all again. Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve
