Tony and Gretchen Crofford caught 15 shibi and 3 aku for a great day
The new starting time is 5:45 and that is when we pulled out on this day of 10-15 south winds going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we jigged and caught 3 aku and ran one live. When Scot baited not much came at first but then a few nice size ones came around and we landed 1 or 2 a pass for a while. A mahi stole a bait and did not come back. Scot had one pass with 2 big ones and 2 mid size kind, for some wild action. Tony and Gretchen did great reeling in all these fish today, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Ed Blackshaw, Jim Williamson, Laura Blackshaw and Rich Kenny caught 1 mahi 6 shibi and 3 aku for a great day of fishing
Just before 6 underway we are on this day of 10 kph nw winds going to my favorite buoy. Along the way we had a striper attack the rigger, it even grabbed on the drop but came off, bummer. At the buoy we jigged and caught a few small aku and ran one live. When we baited nothing came around so we set up and trolled out side. Some aku schools but no hits so back to the ball we go. When we jigged Rich hooked and landed a 25 pound mahi. And this time when we baited some big ones came up once and Scot hooked a 66 pounder that Jim landed. A few more mid size shibi to round out the day and in we go. Back in the harbor Ed shows that he has been taking notes by the tail bite pose, and he and Rich each ate 2 eyeballs to take up the slack, good team players, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Rex Greenlee, Trent Walney, Bob Koontz, Terry Neidich, Jacob Weaver and Steve Allen caught 1 mahi 10 shibi and 2 aku for lots of fun today
At the appointed hour we put to sea on this day of 10-15 variable winds going to my favorite buoy. When we arrived we jigged and caught an aku and ran it live, when we baited a shark ate our aku and only cut the bridal. Next pass and Scot hooked a few nice shibi and we landed them. We had a few bigger fish on that were chewed off. The mid size shibi bite was steady, and fun on light line, these guys all did great on these fish. On our way in we had a slam on the rigger and it was a nice mahi, and Terry landed it. I was the only one to throw an eyeball 6 feet in the air and catch it in my mouth. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Carrie Hoban, John Kochel, Scott Schoenberner and Brock Woodson caught 1 big 696# marlin 1 big shibi and 4 aku for a fantastic day of fishing
Right on time we departed on this day of no wind going to my favorite buoy. On our way we caught 2 small aku in a big school. Arriving we baited and hooked 3 fish and landed a 50 pound shibi and released a shark and had one come off. Next pass a big marlin boiled next to the boat then swam under the boat all lit up and feeding, as the boys reeled our light lines in, Scot bridaled an aku and dropped it out. It only took a few seconds before she came in on our aku and jumped right a way, Scot set the hook and she ran out 400 yards of line only jumping once, then the battle started. Scott was the angler in a 2 and a half hour long fight that ended up being a team effort when our fighting chair broke and they had 3 guys at a time working to get this fish up. Finally she came up tail wraped and dead, she was only snagged in the side, but the line went through the mouth and then around the tail, so the hook pulled forward into the body. That is our favorite way to land a big marlin, dead. Back at the buoy we had a few bites but caught small aku. These guys did great today, good team work men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Tom Mogush, Matthew Frye, T. J. Mogush and Matthew Odom caught 8 shibi for a great day of fishing
At the appointed hour we slid out on this day of light winds going to my favorite buoy. There when we baited a big one ate a bait and T. J. landed a 70 pounder. Next pass and the mid size shibi were eating the bait well and Scot hooked a few and we got them. The bite was steady, and these guys did great on all these fish. On our way in we had a marlin slam the center and grab the rigger but never found the hook well enough to hook up, bummer. In the harbor only T. J. and Matthew were eager participants in my shibi eyeball eating ritual, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dan Gorman, Joe Gorman, Jason Oliveira caught 2 mahi 8 shibi and 4 aku for a fun day
On time and out we went on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On our first pass we hooked a mahi and landed it. Then on our first bait pass Scot hooked another mahi and it joined us. Then it was one or two a pass for a while there with mid size shibi, on bait. When it slowed down we jigged but took no hits. There were no birds around the buoy today, usually there are at least some in residence. These guys did great on these fish today, good going men. Back in the harbor it was all too easy to get all of these guys to eat shibi eyeballs, I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dave Broertjes, Eric Elliot, and Carollyn Broertjes caught 1 mahi 12 shibi and 4 aku for a great day of fishing
Usual start on a windy day of 20+ trades going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we took a mahi hit on the corner and got it. When Scot baited we got some shibi on and landed a few nice ones. Then he hooked one that was big and on the way in it got it's tail chomped off by a shark, that made it easy at gaff. A few more mid size ones and one more big one that was a tag team effort that went 70 pounds. Then we jigged around and caught a few aku. On our way out we saw lots of whales today. These guys did good on these fish. In the harbor only Eric had what it takes to be a fear factor candidate and ate an eyeball gladly. Aloha Capt Rusty

So we set up and trolled to another bouy, where we baited and caught 3 nice shibi and 4 aku. On the way in and out there were whales all around, this is the high time of the season. Mike Motyka, Chris Broy, Ted Spradlin, Dave Adler, Lyle Ruggles and Bryan caught 2 mahi and 4 aku and saw some great whale action today
Putting to sea at 6 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On the way we had a pair of whales breach less than 200 feet off our port side, it was a suprise and every one saw it, our best whale show so far this year. Once we got to bouy the birds and all the fish left dodge due to some pilot whales in the area, we baited but nobody was home, so on to a different buoy. Arriving there it was a bit more life like but baiting did not work so we trolled in and hooked a mahi and got it. We came across at least 10 small schools of small aku, and caught 4 small aku out of a few schools, and 1 more mahi for some fun and dinner. Back in the harbor only Bryan was bold enough to eat an eyeball. This trip was a surprise birthday present from Mike's wife Wendy, who pulled off total suprise, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty
