We left the harbor at 6:15 am in 15-25 kph trades.  We didn't see any action on the way to the buoy, but once there, we were missing a lure.  Only an ono can be that sneaky.  We ran live bait but no takers, so we decided to jig.  The boys started jigging up small yellowfin and skipjack tuna, with one double hookup.  We saw whales breeching in the distance on the way in.  We thought that was going to be our only action, until the right outrigger came down and then the center rigger came down.  Neither of them stuck but one came back for seconds, and we hooked him.  Marco reeled in a 20 pound mahimahi.  Everyone is eating mahimahi tonight!  The boys did all the reeling today and did a fine job.  Hope to see you all again someday.  Aloha Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right on time in 10-20 kph trades.  We headed to a buoy with no bites on the way.  We ran live bait and hooked a mahimahi.  It put up a good fight but Jason opened a can of whoop ass and landed it.  We started jigging and hooked several doubles, landing a yellowfin and skipjack tuna each time. We saw some mahimahi go by so we baited up two lines.  We got one to bite and while Jason was reeling it in, we hooked another.  Jason landed them both.  We continued jigging up yellowfin and skipjack tuna.  Right before it was time to head in, we hooked and landed another mahimahi.  No bites on the way in but we did see whales in the distance.  Great Catch Jason!  Aloha Scot, Hunter, and Captain Steve

We left the harbor at 6am in 10-20 kph trades  We hooked and landed a mahimahi on our way to the buoy.  Great way to start the day!  On the first pass by the buoy, four lines came down, we landed two yelllowfin tuna and one mahimahi, losing the second mahimahi.  We came back with live bait and started nailing mahimahi right and left.  We even had a triple, landing all three.  We were also jigging and catching yellowfin tuna between the mahimahi strikes, making for an action-packed day.  Kirsten Rhea is on our top angler scoreboard for 2014 with her 28 pound mahimahi, beating the previous record by over 8 pounds.  Way to go Kristen!  Everyone did a great job today, bringing in one of our best catches of the year.  It's always a pleasure having repeat anglers onboard, and we look forward to fishing with you again.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right on time in 10-20 kph trades.  We headed to a buoy, took a strike on our first pass, but it didn't stick.  We came back with live bait and hooked a nice mahimahi.  Maya reeled in a 12 pounder in record time.  We came back again and hooked another mahimahi.  Maya reeled in a 14 pounder, this one putting up a good fight.  We started to head in looking for more fish.  We hit the Waimea wave ball but nobody home.  We saw good whale action on the way in, but no other bites.  We only caught 2 fish today, but everyone will be eating mahimahi for dinner.  Another lovely day on the Kuuloa Kai.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve
