In the begining of the twilight zone we set out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Arriving at the buoy Scot baited and hooked a nice mahi on our first pass and Ricky landed a nice one. Then we jigged and caught 1 aku and a few shibi and ran a shibi live. Nothing came in so we set up and trolled to another buoy. There Scot baited and had a mahi bite that came off. So we jigged up a few more shibi and while doing that we had a marlin eat a bait and hook up on a 50 LRS with 100 leader. This fish was hooked deep, when it jumped there was lots of blood comming out with the water as it jumped away it looked to be about 150, then the line broke at the splice to the spectra with only about 200 yards of line out, bummer. We came back and baited again and finally we got a bite that turned into a shark that came all he way to the boat before it let itself go at the boat. We saw whales comming and going a few good breches too. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the crack of dawn out we went on this day of 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At 4 miles to go I found a small net and we baited up 4 mahi for a great start all on light line. Arriving Scot baited and nothing came in so we jigged and caught 1 shibi and ran it live. Baiting again Scot had a few bites before he hooked a mahi and Bryan landed it. On our ride in this marlin took a likeing to one of my jets on the corner and hit it a few times before hooking up when Scot dropped it back to it. It jumped 4 or 5 times and screamed out 400 yards of line in a hurry. Bryan reeled this fish in so fast it only took 20 minutes, and it was spent at gaff, the way we like it. He made it look easy, good going. In the harbor Bryan almost ate a marlin eyeball, but not. These folks were real troopers on this rough day of rock and roll. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time and out we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Saw a few whales on our way out. At the buoy we hooked a small aku on our first pass and landed it. When we came down with bait only small aku and shibi came up so we jigged and caught a few aku and 2 mid size shibi, and ran an aku live. When Scot baited again some mid size shibi came up and he hooked one but it came off right at the boat. We then set up and trolled out to about 20 miles, but found nothing till 15 miles on the way in. Then they did not bite. On our way in we did the shark show and saw a few more whales. These folks did geat on this rough day, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

On this first day of spring we set forth in 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. After a wild wide to get there we took a mahi hit on our first pass and landed a nice 24 pounder. Next pass one more mahi and then we baited. Scot hooked one or two each pass for a while then they stopped, so we jigged and caught some small shibi and ran 2 live. Before long a big marlin came in and ate one bait and did not hook up. Then it ate the other bait and hooked up but did not run or jump and in a minute it came off, both leaders were abraided quite a bit for the short time it was on it was another big marlin it was, bummer. So we went back to the buoy and did catch 2 more mahi. These guys did great today on all these fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time and slowly we headed out on this rough day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. 2 miles inside the buoy in an open school a nice mahi hooked up and we landed it. At the buoy Scot baited but only small shibi and aku came up,so we ran an aku and started to jig. It wasn't long before this marlin came in from the side and just ate our aku and was on running and jumping, it jumped about 6 times and then went down. Mike was the angler and he got back all 500 yards of line in about 40 minutes, and she came up just the way we like them, more dead than alive, it's so much safer. She tipped the scales at 369. Back to the buoy and nothing came up on our bait so we trolled out and found an open school and landed another nice mahi. On our way in we saw some whales. These guys did a great job today on all these fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

5:45 is when we slid out into an angry ocean with 25 kph trades headed for my favorite buoy. On our first pass we took a mahi hit and got it. When Scot baited his first drop hooked a nice 23 pound mahi, that gave Paul a great fight on 50. There were no shibi coming up for our bait so we set up and trolled outide. At about 20 miles I found an open school and we landed one mahi there After that it was a steady stream of open schools on our way in. Scot baited up 3 in one school, all the rest maybe one a school. With the winds can come the mahi, and we have some wind coming. These guys did great on all these fish, on this rough day of rock and roll. In the harbor Asahi was the only one bold enough to eat a mahi eyeball, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the crack of dawn we were on our way going to my favorite buoy with 10 kph north winds. Once there Scot baited and hooked a few mid size shibi, and we landed them. It was a bit slow but Scot kept hooking up nice shibi, then a bigger one hooked up and we got it. Then we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live. Then a mahi grabbed our aku and hooked up and we landed it too. We then went outside and found a big net and baited up 4 more mahi, there were lots of fish there but not eating. These guys did real good on all these fish today, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

A crystal clear morning on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my favorite buoy. Ariving we baited and got no bites so we jigged and caught some small shibi. When Scot baited again he hooked a few nice shibi, and we landed them. Then Scot hooked a bigger one, a 35 pounder that gave Vinnie a work out.A pod of whales came right by us as we were fishing at the buoy real close. On our way way in we found an open school of mahi and Scot baited up 2 and we landed them both. By afternoon it was cloudy and even rained hard on the harbor just before we got there. Good going Vinnie. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was a stormy rainy morning with lots of lightning as we departed this day of 15 kph south winds going to my favorite buoy. Once there the rain let up and Scot baited and not much came up, so we jigged and caught small shibi and 1 aku. When we baited again Scot hooked a few nice shibi on light line and we got them. We had a few screamers on bait that broke line possibly sharks. On one pass Richard landed a nice 25 pounder on light line. And by this time the sun was out and the sky was all blue.  Then we jigged and had a few big hits that just came off and caught some small shibi. On our way in we took  a mahi hit in the blind and landed a nice mahi. These folks were all troopers they handeled some adverse conditions in the morning and then got a sunny afternoon, and did great on these fish too. We saw some whale action on the inside, a few miles from the harbor. At the dock only Ed was bold enough to swallow a shibi eyeball gladly, the rest of them will just have to go to Todai for their seafood, my favorite place in Waikiki. Good going folks. Aloha Capt Rusty

Just before 6 and out we go on this day of 15 kph southeast winds going to my favorite bouy. On our first pass the corner took off with a nice mahi and we landed it. Next pass an outrigger takes off with a nice shibi and it comes aboard. When we baited only humuhumu came in so we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live. Next time Scot baited he hooked a few small shibi, so we jigged and caught more aku for a while. On our way in we had a striper slam one rigger and the center and did not hook up, bummer. These guys did good on all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty
