We got a 5:00 start on this nasty day of 30 mph north winds going to my next favorite buoy. We got 2 mahi on the way up the ledge, then 2 strippers near the buoy. At the buoy we took a shibi and a mahi hit and got them both. Then we baited up some mahi 2 or 3 at a time, untill a marlin came around and looked at our teaser but did not eat it, bummer. Then we jigged and got a mahi on an aku lure, then baited up 5 more. We ended up with 19 as we left the buoy. On the way in we got 3 more mahi for 22.  In the harbor both guys ate eyeballs. These guys handeled the extremely rough water real well, they are seaworthy guys to be shure. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 6:20 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my favorite buoy. On the way we got a small mahi, then Heather landed the stripper, for a great start.  We caught some small aku at the buoy and ran them live, and right away a mahi ate one and we got it and Scot baited one more up. The next live aku had a mahi on it real fast and Scot baited it up and we got it too. Then we had one on light line that broke line right behind the boat. Then we went to another buoy and got one and lost one mahi. On our way in we had a nice marlin scream out 200 yards of line and then jump all over the place and come off, bummer. In the harbor all the fish retained their corneas. These folks did great, they were fun to fish with. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 6:15 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my favorite buoy. On the way we hooked our ono on one of my tuna killer fishheads, and Jon did a great job of reeling it in, it is our biggest of the year at 41 pounds. At the buoy we got a mahi trolling then baited up 4 more, and some small aku too. No hits on the way in. In the harbor Jon was bold enough to eat an eyeball from a mahi, good man. It was a fun day. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:30 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my other favorite buoy. On the way there we caught a small mahi and broke line on a nice marlin. At the buoy we took a bouble mahi shibi on the first pass and got them both. Then we baited up 4 more one at a time, then we went to the next buoy. On ouur first pass we hooked our big bully trolling and baited up one more. We came back with bait and had a real big mahi eat our teaser and not hook up, bummer. We ended up with 15 and 2 shibi, for a action packed day. There was no eyeball eating today. These folks did great, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:15 after Scot put in a new water pump on the port engine on this day of 25 mph north winds going to my favorite buoy.  We took a single mahi hit on our first pass and got it. Then we caught some baits and ran them live, it took awhile before a mahi came around to investigate and get hooked up by Scot. We got 7 eventually then we went to the next buoy. We hooked one trolling then Scot baited up the big bully right behind the boat, Kurt reeled that one in. When we went back they just kept comming in and we ended up with 22 mahi and 1 shibi. On the way in we hooked the spearfish and Bill got to reel it in. Then we hooked one last mahi 4 miles from the harbor. No eyeballs were consumed in the harbor. These guys did great with the rough water, and all those fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Tash and Gary Price, Eric Shelley, and Michele Price caught 10 mahi and some small aku and shibi
We got going at 4:30 on this day of 15 mph winds going to my favorite bouy. We took no hits trolling so we caugth some aku and ran them live. When we baited a big 30 pound bully came up and ate a whole aku to start things off, then some more came along and we got them too. When we put out a live aku it would soon be mauled by a mahi, it was great action. We ended up with 10, two of them being 30 pounders. On the way in we saw some whales and some sharks too. In the harbor I was the only one to eat an eyeball. It was a fun day of fishing. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got underway at 5:00 going to my favorite buoy on this day of 25 mph south winds. We took a mahi hit on our first pass and got a nice 23 pounder, then we lost one on the next pass. We then caught some small aku and ran them live, and before long there was a mahi on one of them, Scot baited it up and we got it. Then a bunch of mahi showed up and we got 4 in one pass, then one more to make it 7. We had a marlin swoop on one of our baits but did not hook up. Back in the harbor only Mark was up to eating a shibi eyeball. These guys handeled the rough water we had today very well, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Shelly and Mike Funk caught 22 mahi and 1 shibi and 1 aku for a great day of fishing
We left the harbor at 4:30 on this day of 15 mph winds going to what is now my favorite buoy. We took a few hits and lost one and got one mahi trolling then jigged and caught some baits and ran them live. It took a while but eventually the mahi mahi came around and on the first pass with bait we got 11 incuding 2 big bullys one going 40 pounds. It was wild action with Mike reeling in one after another. On our next pass we got an aku and a shibi before the mahi showed up and then we got 6 more. We ended up with 22 or one full fish bag. We also had a marlin swim by our baits on our last pass but it did not want our baits. Back in the harbor Mike was game to swallow an eyeball out of a mahi. One hell of a great day of fishing. And this was just before a big storm hit the island, the rain started that afternoon and by the next day it was like a hurricane with 50 mph winds and torrential rain. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got out at 4:30 on this day of 10-20 mph trades going to my second favorite bouy. We took a double on our first pass and baited up 2 more mahi for 4. Then we had a marlin grab the rigger and scream out 100 yards and jump and come off. Then we caught some small aku and ran them live. Then we went outside and found a few open schools and got 3 more mahi. Back at the buoy we baited up more mahi, on our best pass we got 5 at once, to end up with17. Back in the harbor only Don was game to eat an eyeball. These guys were fun to fish with, and they handeled the wild ride well. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Tom and Kathy Kiefer and Winnie and George Jarrells caught 8 nice mahi one a big bully at 44 pounds
We got underway at 5:00 going to my second most favorite bouy on this day of 10-20 mph se winds. We got one mahi on our first pass then we got 2 small aku and ran them both live. It was only a minute or so before the big bully swallowed one of the aku and was hooked up, Winnie was the angler and it gave her a great fight, at the same time we hooked 3 more and a shark. We got one more good pass and got 4 on that pass, it was some wild action. On our way in we had a stripper hit a lure but not stay on. In the harbor Winnie was the brave one to swallow an eyeball from a mahi, alright. These folks were real troopers. Aloha Capt Rusty
