Oh by the way in Hawaii no alcoholic beverages are sold between mid night and 6 AM, sorry guys.Near sunrise and out we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy.  Arriving we jigged and caught some small shibi and aku and ran an aku and a shibi live. Then we jigged and caught small aku and a big shibi once in a while. We had a mahi come in and somehow ate our aku and took it off the hook for free, and never came back. When we baited Scot hooked one bigger shibi that Ray landed, a nice 37 pounder. The bite was good jigging so that's what we did, and some bigger ones kept biting for awhile, it was lots of fun. These guys did great today. Back in the harbor only Tim and Alex were bold enough to eat shibi eyeballs, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

There was some rain as we pulled out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy.  Once there we jigged and were getting small aku and ran 2 live. Only a hungry shark came in when we baited so we caught a few more aku then set up and trolled out and found 2 small aku schools, then ended up at another buoy. There we jigged and caught a small aku and ran it live. When Scot baited he had a few cutoffs before a nice 20 pounder stuck and Darren landed it easily. Next a 26 pound bully grabs a bait and flys out of the water hanapaa, this one did not come willingly, Darren got a real fight this time and in the boat it came. Then a 12 pound aku ate a bait and is our biggest aku this year so far. Later another bait goes and is pulling hard like a big one and turns out to be a 20 pounder foul hooked in the side, good fight. Darren did great on these fish to day, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time we pulled out on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my next favorite buoy. When we arrived we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi and ran an aku live. Baiting got us nothing so we jigged and caught a few more aku, then set up and trolled out and found a lonely plastic ball so we gave it a home, and that was all. Back at another bouy we caught some aku and ran one live, and then baited and Scot hooked a nice 20 pounder and Curtis landed it on 40 pound test. On our way in we saw some whales. These guys did good today, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

5:15 is the new target start time and we hit it today on this day of 10 kph sw winds going to my favorite buoy. We jigged and caught a few aku and ran one live, while the aku boat was lifting small aku. We baited and got no bites, so we set up and trolled to another bouy. There we caught some small aku and ran 2 live. When Scot baited a mahi came around and once he finally got it to eat it jumped twice and came off, bummer. We jigged and the aku and shibi were biting good so we caught more while we walked our live baits around. We saw some whales on the way in and out today, these folks did great on these fish today good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

At first light we slid gently out on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my favorite buoy. Upon our arrival we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi and ran one of each live. Right a way we had a hit on our aku and when Scot reeled it in an ono hit it again and missed the hook. When we baited the birds got all of our palu, so we set up and trolled outside. There was nothing happening so to another buoy and we got to watch the aku boat loading up on small aku. We ran an aku and a shibi live, then threw some bait and a mahi came up and ate a clarke spoon, and Kyle landed it. Next pass we got 2 more and lost a few. We landed one more mahi then we jigged and caugth a few more aku and shibi. On our way in 2 miles from the harbor we had our first ono hit and Cuylar landed a nice 26 pounder. At the pier only Kyle and Justin were bold enough to eat mahi eyeballs gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the crack of 5:30 we nosed into it on this day of 20 kph north winds going to my favorite buoy. Once there we jigged and could not catch a live bait so we baited and Scot hooked a few small shibi and we ran one live. On one pass Scot hooked a nice size shibi and we landed it, a 19 pounder. We set up and trolled north ward, and found an open school and we landed 7 in one pass. It was great action with 2 or 3 on at a time, these guys did great . Then on our way in with only 3 miles to go to the harbor a marlin started slaming our outriggers and not hooking up. When it slamed the center Scot dropped it back and she ate it and was on, jumped once and ran out 400 yards in a hurry. Charlie got back 150 yards when she put on a great show jumping and running out another 200 yards, that's just what we like them to do. With a little help from Scot, Charlie had this big fish to the boat in about a half an hour, and she was spent, she did not argue at all at the boat. In the harbor this fish tipped the scales at 290, a great fish. And all three of these guys ate mahi eyeballs gladly, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

At about 6:15 we slid out of the harbor on this day of 10 kph winds going to my favorite buoy. On the way we found a big net floating, but there was nobody home, bummer. Arriving we jigged and caught 2 shibi one a nice 20 pounder that Chris landed, and 3 aku, we ran two live. When Scot baited he had a hookup but it came off, it got real slow so we set up and trolled outside 5 miles and found one aku pile and one milk crate floating and got nothing so back to the buoy. The aku boat was there and loading up on small aku, they put 6,000 pounds in the boat in about 1 1/2 hours. We caught some aku and ran 2 live looking for a marlin. When Scot baited he had one bite that did not stick On our way in we saw a few more whales. In the harbor both of these guys were bold enough to eat shibi eyeballs gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed hour we sild out on this day of 10 kph winds going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we jigged and caught some small aku and ran one live. When we baited a 30 pound shibi hooked up right away and Casey landed it easily. Then Scot hooked one more and we got it too. It slowed down so we set up and trolled outside 5 miles and found nothing but a few small aku piles so back to the buoy we went. There we caught a few aku and ran one live, then baited and had a few hits and misses when a nice big marlin shows up on our aku, it managed to eat it off the hook and not even pull the rigger down, we got a dead aku out but the marlin disapeared. So we jigged to get another live aku and hooked a nice shibi and an aku and ran the aku live. We caught a few more small aku and that was our day, these guys did great on the fish we caught, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was 8ish as we pulled out on this day of 10 kph winds going to my favorite buoy. On our first pass we took a shibi hit on the rigger and landed a 20 pounder. Then we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi and ran an aku live. When we baited Scot had a few hits and got bit off a couple of times but only one nice shibi hooked up and we got it. We went back to jigging and caught some more shibi and aku. These folks did great on these fish today, good going, We saw some whales both ways today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Mike Shivok and Aubery Halstead caught 1 marlin a 347 pounder 8 mahi 4 shibi and 2 aku for an action packed day of fishing
On time and out we went on this day of 25+ trades going to my favorite buoy. On our way we had a mahi hit in an open school and it came off right at the boat. At the buoy we jigged and caught a small shibi and ran it live, then Scot baited and hooked a mahi and a shibi and we landed them both. Next pass Scot hooked a mahi and as it came in the boat a marlin hit our live bait. It hit it again and took the bait off the hook, so Scot put another bait out and it came in and hooked up on this one and jumped a few times and then went down. Mike was the angler and our first problem was that this fish had gone around the buoy, so we had to back up and drive around the bouy to get the line off the anchor rope, then it came sorta easy till 50 feet from the boat where Scot had to help handline quite a bit to get it to the boat. In an hour and a half it came up all spent just the way we like it, it was snagged in the side of the gill plate, that explained why it went back and forth behind the boat. Then back up to the buoy and a turtel came by with a bunch of mahi around it, Scot baited up 5 more there, a few more shibi at the buoy and that was our day. These guys did a fantastic job on all these fish, especially the marlin it is a team sport, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
