We left the harbor at 5:05 am in 10-20 kph trades.  We headed to a buoy and had an ono bite on the way.  Nick reeled in a nice 20 pounder.  At the buoy we ran bait, but no bites.  So we jigged and caught 4 yellowfin and 3 skipjack tuna.  We headed to another buoy and caught three mahimahi.  We had one a double hookup and Nick and Renee each reeled in nice mahimahi.  Then Drew reeled in the biggest mahi of the day, weighing 27 pounds.  Another good day of fishing on the Kuuloa Kai.  Aloha Scot, Hunter, and Captain Steve

We left the harbor at 5 am in 10-20 kph trades.  We headed to our first buoy but couldn't find it.  We decided to troll the ledge with bait.  It didn't take long for our first strike.  We hooked a mahimahi and Leigh reeled in a beautiful 19 pound bull.  We trolled some more and caught a 12 pound wavy back skipjack tuna.  We headed down and trolled slow with bait.  We got a double mahimahi hookup, but one jumped off the hook.  Leigh landed the other one.  Another nice bull weighing 18 pounds.  It was time to head in, not a bad catch for a half day. It was a pleasure having you onboard, and look forward to catching that big tuna with you in the future.  Aloha Scot, Hunter, & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right on time, in 10-20 kph trades.  We ran bait at the buoy, but no takers.  We trolled around the area chasing birds, but still no bites.  We fed an opelu to our "pet" ewa bird.  He's been AWOL for a while but he's back, and put on a good show.  We headed towards the ledge and ran more bait.  We had two mahimahi strikes, but neither of them stuck.  A short while later we hooked another mahimahi and Steve reeled in a 12 pounder.  It was a half day charter, and time to head in.  No bites on the way back to the harbor.  We only caught one fish today, but at least these guys know what's for dinner tonight! Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor right at 5 am in light winds.  We headed to a buoy, ran bait, but no bites.  We tried jigging and caught 6 yellowfin and 4 skipjack tuna.   Everyone got to reel something in, and we had a couple double hookups, which adds to the fun and excitement. We spotted a few billfish, but couldn't get them to bite.  We headed to another buoy, found a little mahimahi, but he got away.  We hit another buoy, ran bait, and got a mahimahi to bite.  Levi landed a nice 22 pound bull.  We baited some more and hooked another mahimahi.  Ben reeled in a 14 pound wahine.  We hooked a third mahimahi and the bait had slid up the line as we were reeling it in.  An ono hit the bait, cut our line, and let his buddy the mahi, get away.  It was getting time to head in, we were out of bait, and a big storm was rolling in.  We had a good view of the lightning show on our way back to the harbor.  Another great day of fishing aboard the Kuuloa Kai.  Hope to see you all again.  Aloha, Scot & Captain Steve

We left the harbor at 5 am and headed towards a buoy.  On the way there, I spotted something yellow in someone's lunch bag.  BANANAS!  We shook down the crew but no one wanted to confess.  We threw the bananas overboard and prayed it didn't affect our catch.  At the buoy we ran bait and our first four strikes took our bait and ran off with it.  Wasn't looking good....  We switched to light tackle and hooked a fish right away.  We kept baiting on the light tackle and everyone got to reel in a nice sized yellowfin tuna.  When the bites slowed, we switched to jigging.  These guys did great, and caught a few 20 pounders, along with smaller yellowfin and skipjack tuna.  We didn't catch a marlin like we were hoping, but we did catch 15 yellowfin and 10 aku.  Great catch and a fun day.  It was nice fishing with you again, hope to get that marlin next time.  Aloha Scot & Captain Steve
