At first light off we go on this day of 25+ kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a triple shibi but only one stayed on and we got it. Then we took 2 mahi hits and got them both. When we jigged we got no shibi hits at all but one more mahi came aboard. So we set up and trolled outside. We found some bird life but only one school produced one more mahi for us. It was a rough day of big waves high winds and lots of rain squalls going by, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was still dark as we got going on this day of 20 kph trades headed for my old favorite buoy. The whales were out in force putting on a great show. At the buoy we took a small shibi hit and got it, then came back jigging and caught some shibi and 2 aku. When we baited Scot hooked some nice size shibi and we landed 3 of them. Then we set up and trolled, before long a mahi slamed the rigger and came aboard. Then a mahi hit the center and we got it to, these guys did great today. In the harborLarry, Thomas and Brad were bold enough to eat mahi eyeballs, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time off we go with 10 kph trades blowing headed to my favorite buoy. At first light we had a great whale show with 4 whales breaching all at once.  Along the way we had a mahi hit that came off right at the boat. The buoy was dead so we kept going to another buoy. we took a mahi hit in the blind and got one. At the buoy we took another mahi hit and it came aboard. That was all this buoy had for us so we set up and tolled and took a mahi hit and got one more. Found some birds and took a small shibi hit and got it. Near the harbor we had a nice shibi slam the rigger and Cole landed it. Then we got some porpoise to swim along with us for awhile in glassy flat water it was cool. Good going men . Aloha Capt Rusty

It was real dark as we took off from our new dock with 20+ kph trades blowing headed to my old favorite buoy. Along the way we took a 4 banger small shibi and got them all. At the buoy we baited but got no hits so we set up and trolled out and up to another buoy. We found a 4x8 sheet of ply wood floating and got 2 mahi trolling by, came back with bait and got none. At the buoy we had a mahi slam the rigger but come off right away, We baited but got nothing , so we jigged and got nothing too. On our way in we found a few birds and took a double mahi and got them both. These folks did great today, and this was their 3rd time out with us over the years, hope to see you again next time. Aloha Capt Rusty

As most of you may have heard we were hit by a tsunami from the earthquake in Japan early this morning causing some serious damage to Haleiwa harbor and many other places around the state. We left the harbor at 1:30 and it hit at 3 AM. It appears that our slip took the worst damage, while the sail boat next to me did not suffer any damage at all. I am now moored on a floating dock near my slip that survived the tsunami. Thank God we only got a fraction of the power of this tsunami, mother nature was merciful to us this time, we are lucky to have a harbor to come back to at all. We will now try to resume bussines  as usual. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the buoy we baited and caught some mahi and shibi right away, it was some fun action on light line. When we jigged they were still hooking up regularly as we caugth fish after fish. these guys did great landing one after another. There was pair of whales at the buoy that were just putting on a great show for us breaching and surfacing close to us the whole time we were there. These guys were fun to have aboard good going men. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Scot, Hank Osborne, Robert Raymond, and Yugi Takao caught 5 shibi 2 mahi and one big aku for a fun day
In the dark we took off going to my old favorite buoy with 20 kph sout winds. At the buoy we baited and hooked a few shibi right away and then a few mahi too. When we jigged we got a few more shibi. Then I spoted a big marlin following the boat, Scot quickly put out a live 5 pound shibi out of the tuna tubes and the marlin ate it gladly. It came out of the water and tailwalked one way and then the other putting on a great show as the reel screamed out line. this was a big fish it looked to be over 400 pounds. Robert was the man in the chair for the fight, and he did a great job for over an hour he battled this fish getting it to about 40 yards out then it some how spit the hook out and was gone, bummer but that is how marlin fishing goes sometimes. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
