Calm and clear with 15 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Along the way we see a few whales. At the buoy we hooked a small mahi on our first pass and it came off at the boat. When we came back with bait Scot hooked 2 mahi and we landed them both. Then we jigged and caught a few small shibi and 1 aku that we put in the tube. Then we set up and trolled to another buoy, where we baited and got no hits at all. These guys did great on these fis today. In the harbor Lyndon and Adam were game to eat mahi eyeballs gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the buoy we baited and had a few hits but nothing stuck, we jigged and had some hits and did catch 1 aku and we ran it live. Then we set up and trolled to another bouy, along the way we found an open school and got one more out of 3 that we had on. At this bouy we bait up 2 more mahi it was good action for awhile there. These guys did great with what we caught today. We saw whales here and there, playing around doing their whale things. In the harbor only Ben was bold enough to eat a mahi eyeball gladly, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We set out in the dark on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Along the way we had a whale breach less than 100 yards away and then do a head slam jump 8 times, great show up close and personal. At the buoy we baited but got no hits so we jigged and had a few bites but got none. On our way to another buoy we found an open school and Scot baited up 3 mahi two big ones, Terry and Ali did great on the big ones. At this buoy we baited up 2 more small mahi, and jigged but got no hits. Good going men you guys did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

With a bit of a late start off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a 4 banger shibi and landed all of them. Next pass and we had an aku shibi double or triple and got 3, and so on for awhile. When we baited Scot hooked a shibi and we got it. Then Scot noticed a marlin following the boat, he got a live bait out to it and it tryed to eat it but somehow got wraped in the line. The hook was hooked on the line and the line went around the fish at the pectoral fins and the dorsal was cut by it. This fish went wild when the girth pulled tight and it came jumping towards us and I had to punch it to keep it tight as it looked like it was wake surfing half out of the water and shaking it's head a great show only 20 yards out there. Then it screamed out 200 yards and then settled down, and it was Alex in the chair, and after a while he tapped out and John took over. We could see the fish for the longest time but it would not come in to the boat, so after some fancy boat handeling she jumped once more and then came to the boat, with lots of help from Scot. This marlin had a great light up at gaff, it looked like a neon blue sign. Back to the buoy and Scot hooks a nice big shibi and we land a 27 pounder. These guys did great on all these fish on this rough day, good going guys. In the harbor only I was bold enough to throw a marlin eyeball in the air and catch it in my mouth and eat it. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed time off we go on this day of 25+ trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a double and landed a mahi and lost a bigger shibi. When we came back there were porpoise everywhere, end of that party, so we trolled on outside. Along a small current we took a mahi hit and landed one. We ended up at another buoy, where we took a shibi hit and landed a nice shibi. When we came back with bait Scot was hooking shibi and Alan and Kathy were reeling them in. It was another rough day today lots of big seas to ride through and they did great. We saw whales here and there on the way in and out. Good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Kabet and Robilynn Sterk caught 20 mahi and 10 shibi and 3 aku for a super day of fishing today
With trades blowing at 25+ and some drizzley rain we headed for my favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a 5 banger mahi and shibi and landed 4 out of 5, came back and took a triple and got 2. Then we came by with bait and hooked shibi or mahi every time by the buoy, the action was as hot as the big waves rolling by us. Oh yea there were humpbacks at the buoy, I mean right at the buoy, going closer to it than we go, up close and personal. The action was steady on bait then we jigged and were still hooking mahi and shibi and an odd aku mixed in. We ran a shibi live. Kabet was the angler and he did great on all these fish one after another. On our way in we took a triple mahi and got 2. There are whales all over these days. These folks did great on this rough day, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time and off we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we jigged and caught a few small shibi. When Scot baited we took 3 hits and landed 2 shibi one a nice 31 pounder that Mark reeled in. Then no bites for a long time so we set up and trolled outside. We found an open school of mahi and 2 real small mahi hit our lures but came off. Back at the buoy we baited and hooked 1 or 2 or 3 a pass for awhile there the action was hot and these guys did great pulling all these fish in. The whale action was hot too with jumping and waving and frolicking going on everywhere. In the harbor only Mark joined me in eating shibi eyeballs today, this is Marks third trip with us and that makes him a regular, good going guys always fun to have you aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Mike Sims, Jon Sims and Ryan Bailey caught 1 mahi and 2 shibi for a fun day of fishing
It was dark as we got underway today with 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Half way there we found an open school and took a mahi hit and Ryan landed a nice 26 pounder. At the buoy we took a shibi strike but it came off right at the boat. Then we came back with bait only to see a shark there and it made things hard. We had a few hits but the only thing that stuck was the shark and it broke off the light line. So we jigged and caught a small shibi and ran it live. When we baited again Scot hooked a shibi and we got it, then it was all shark, so we put out our live one and hooked the shark only to have it come off near the boat, oh well. These guys did great on these fish today. On our way in and out we saw whales all over, jumping, waving, cavorting too whatever that means, there were lots of them. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the dark and out we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we took a triple and landed 1 nice mahi and 2 shibi that's how we like it to start. When we came back with bait Scot was hooking shibi every pass one or two or three. The action was hot and these guys kept up good. When it slowed down we jigged and could not get an aku in the boat. On our way in we did see some whales right outside the harbor. In the harbor only myself Michael and Tim were bold enough to eat shibi eyeballs, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
