Peter and Joi Hawton caught 1 mahi 2 shibi and 1 aku for a fun day of fishing

It was getting a little light as we pulled out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On our way we found an open school and took a double and landed one nice mahi. At the buoy we jigged and got no bites so we baited and Scot had some bites but could only hang on to a small shibi. So we jigged till we caught an aku and ran it live, and then baited again this time Scot hooked a nice shibi and Joi landed it easily. These folks did real good today. Back in the harbor they both were adventurous enough to eat eyeballs from our catch gladly, I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

Alex Zoni and Tom Brennan caught 1 mahi 2 shibi and 5 aku for a fun day
|
Right on time we started out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and Scot hooked a nice shibi first pass and we landed it, next pass a nice 14 pound aku hooked up and Tom landed it. We got no more bites so we set up and trolled outside and found 2 open schools. In one we hooked and Alex landed a mahi, next school Scot baited one up but it jumped and came off. Back at the buoy for the high tide we baited and only got a nibble, so we jigged and caught a few more aku. On our way in we had a marlin slam the rigger and hit it again but not get hooked, and one more mystery hit at 3 miles. These guys did great on these fish today. Back in the harbor it was Alex who was bold enough to eat a shibi eyeball gladly, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Angela and Kevin Slattery caught 2 ahi 2 shibi 2 mahi and 1 aku for a fantastic day of fishing

It was calm as we set out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and Scot hooked a mahi and we landed it. Next pass Scot hooks a real screamer that rips out 200 yards and goes down an ahi, Kevin had his work cut out for him as this fish is on a tiagra 50 lrs with 80# test. After an hour and a half of hard fighting Kevin landed an ahi that went 110#, a great battle. Back up to the buoy and Scot baits and hooks 2 mid size shibi and we land them both. Next pass and we hook another big ahi on 80 and Kevin lands this one in a little under an hour and it is 110# too. Kevin did great on these big fish. On our way in we got a mahi in an open school. Stephine Link, Justin Link, Chad Webster caught 5 mahi 6 shibi and 3 aku for a great day of fishing

With a light rain we pulled out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Arriving we baited and Scot hooked 2 mahi on the first pass one a 30 pound bully that Justin landed. Next pass one more mahi then we jigged and caught 5 shibi and 3 aku then set up and trolled out. We found one bird sitting next to a bucket and Scot baited up 2 nice mahi and Chad landed a 30 pounder too. At another buoy we baited and finaly hooked a nice shibi. These folks did great on all these fish today, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Diane Blevins, Bruce Blevins, Keith Blevins and Peach Crushong caught 2 mahi 5 shibi one a 96 pounder and 2 barracuda one a 52 pound monster for an action packed day today
|
Sliping out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Arriving we baited and had a double shibi one hooked in he side so it fought like a 50 pounder. Next pass we were chopped of twice, so we came back with wire and took a double barracuda one of them a 52 pounder that Keith landed. Then a real big one grabed a bait on 80 pound test and Keith worked it to the boat in about 50 minutes, a great battle. A few more shibi and then on the way in we found an open school and hooked 2 big mahi and landed them both. One a big 33 pound bully that Bruce landed on 80, it's going to look great on his wall, good going. These folks did great on all these fish today. In the harbor only Keith was bold enough to eat a shibi eyeball gladly, I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

Jim Baldwin, Josh Mojica and Rob Lund caught 2 mahi and 4 shibi and one ahi a 105 pounder for a great day

Underway on time on this day of 25 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. It was a wild ride and at the buoy Scot baited and hooked a few mid size shibi and one mahi. One pass Rob got a 70 pound shibi on 60. Then we set up and trolled outside and found one open school that would not bite anything, and got a mahi in the blind then ended up back at the buoy. This time when Scot baited a few mid size shibi came up and one that went 105 that Josh reeled in with some help from Scot. It was wild action for a while there, and these guys did great on this rough day of big waves. Aloha Capt Rusty

At the appointed hour we sliped out on this day of 25 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. After a wild ride we baited at the buoy and Scot hooked 2 nice mahi and the guys landed them both. No more bites so off to another bouy. There when Scot baited he hooked a nice shibi on one pass and a double mahi one that Dave landed was 30# with a 50 pound shibi on the next pass, and they all came aboard. One more mahi and one that came off and in we head. Back in the harbor only Dave was bold enought to eat a shibi eyeball gladly, good going, these folks love to fish and it showed. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was a calm morning as we pulled out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. Arriving we baited and Scot had a mahi bite right a way but it came off. Nothing came up when we baited again so we set up and trolled to another buoy. Here there were birds and aku boiling all over the place, but they would not bite any thing for us, so Scot baited and had a lot of bites that all came off, bummer. We jigged and still nothing so we set up and went to another buoy. There we finaly hooked a mahi that somehow came in the boat. Back in the harbor both Dave and Andy gladly ate mahi eyeballs, good going you folks did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

5:00 is our new target departure time and that is when we pulled out on this day of 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. Arriving Scot baited and hooked 2 nice mahi one a 33 pound bully Joe got that one. Then off to another buoy and it took awhile but a mahi came around and Scot hooked it and a shibi too and they came aboard too. These guys did good today. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was getting light as we pulled out on this day of 25 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. On our way we caught a big bully in an open school. At the buoy Scot baited and hooked a mahi and we landed it. Next pass Scot gets 3 on and we land 2, another big bully. Then we set up and troll to another buoy, where there are more birds. When Scot baits a 45 pound bully comes in and eats Scots bait and then goes airborn a bunch right behind the boat, great show and Tim lands it. A few more mahi and then a bait takes off and Justin fights a big 80 pound shibi, and we boat it a new year to date record just like the mahi. On our way in we get one more mahi. In the harbor all these guys join the eyeball eaters club gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
