We got going at 5:00 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a mahi hit that came off, and lost a lure to an ono. When we jigged we caught some small aku and shibi and ran an aku live. We did have a shark eat half an aku as it was reeled in. Then we set up and headed out, we found a current line and ran along it for a while and found several nets and ropes in it. We got a pair of onos and 5 mahi and a big glass ball, we dont find them as much as we used to. It was some wild action there for awhile. Back in the harbor all the guys ate eyeballs gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

After a while our aku took off with a big marlin that screamed 300 yards of line off jumping around, got  a big belly in the line and broke off all in less than a minute, bummer. Then we set up and trolled out and found some open schools and got 1 mahi in each one. One school was around a rope and we got 1 mahi there and 6 onos trolling around it. These folks did great today, Scottie got the big bully, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Tim Wolf, Kyle Christensen, Nate Hunsche, TJ Degnim, Jamie Wierenga, and John Skoglie caught 15 mahi 2 spearfish and 4 shibi for a fun day of mahi fishing
We got underway at 5:00 on this day of 15 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. Inside the buoy we took a spearfish hit and got a small one. Even though we were the 6th boat to the buoy we took a mahi hit and got it. We jigged and only could catch 4 small shibi, so we set up and trolled out. We got 2 miles out and we had a spearfish hit that Scot had to tease up to git it to bite and stick, and w got it a nice 35 pounder. Then we went back to the area where we had the log the day before and found it in almost the same place. There had been a few boats there before us but eventually Scot got them to bite and we had a good time with some wild mahi action while it lasted. These guys did great. Back in the harbor only Jamie and Nate were bold enough to eat eyeballs, good going men . Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Terry Hollenbeck and Jack caught 57 mahi 1 ono 6 aku and 7 shibi for our best day all year
We got going at 5:00 on this day of 20 kph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We hooked a mahi on our first pass, and baited up a few more then we jigged and caught some small aku and shibi. Then we set up and trolled up and out, we found some open schools and got about 9 altogether. Then on our way home we took a 4 banger mahi in the blind and the water turned blue with 30 or more mahi following us . We got about 17 on that pass, it was wild action, they were comming right to the transom and eating our baits right there. Then we went back up and eventually found the log that they called home, and it was game on for another wild pass of 5 or 6 fish on all the time. Terry and Jack were kept busy with one fish after another, they did great on all thee fish. When we were almost out of ice and space to put fish we set up and trolled and got 1 ono and a big bully. In the end we had 2 bags full of mahi. This was what happens when you are the first ones to fish a virgin floater, epic mahi action. Terry and Jack you guys did an absolutly a fantastic job of angling today, good going men Aloha Capt Rusty
