We set out in the dark on this day of 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. On our first pass we hooked and caught a mahi. Nothing else at the buoy so we headed to the ledge. We ran baits on the ledge and got one ono bite and got it. These guys did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time off we go on this day of 20 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and hooked a mahi right away and got it. The next hookup was a big mahi and Jerry was the angler and he boated a big 27 pound mahi. We got 2 more mahi and 2 shibi in the boat. Then a bait took off and Scot was wondering what it was, and it turned out to be a good sized marlin about 80 pounds or so and the only problem was that it was on 60 pound test leader, no circle hook so it was ill fated from the beginning. Jerry was the angler and gave it a great fight but after putting on a great show jumping around alot it broke the line after 15 minuets, bummer it was cool while it lasted. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dark it was as we got going on this day of 20 kph trades headed to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited but only took a hit and a miss, we jigged but got no hits so off we go to the ledge. On our way we found an aku school and hook  small aku and a big mahi in it and get them both. On the ledge we baited and hook a small mahi and Kyle gets it. A good size mahi and a kawa kawa and a shibi all hook up and Kyle lands all 3. On our way home one last mahi comes aboard. Good going you folks did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a triple mahi and got all 3, great way to start off. When we came back with bait Scot was hooking 2 or 3 a pass for some fast action. The mahi just kept hooking up keeping these folks busy reeling in one after another, they did great landing all these fish. It was still a bit on the rough side but they all did great in the seas today. Good going .    Aloha Capt Rusty

Dark it was as we set sail on this day of 30 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Along the way we got 3 mahi all in the blind. At the bouy we took a single mahi and got it. When we came back with bait it was some great action with Scot hooking 2 or three mahi a pass to start with, the down to one or 2 but it was steady action and these guys did great landing fish after fish. We did get one nice big 20 pound shibi and lost a few more. The action was as hot as the seas were big, there were a few big breakers pounding us around at times. And of course the whale action was everywhere. Good going men you guys did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was getting light as we pulled out on this day of 30 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. Along the way we hooked a mahi on the ledge and got it. Alex got to video some whales breaching, not just one but 2 at the same time and only about 100 yards away. Near the buoy we had a striper slam the center and hook up, Bob had it to the boat fast and we got it in the boat but not before it made an attempt to jump in while I had it on the gaff, they can be dangerous. At the buoy we took a shibi hit and got it, then a mahi hit and it came aboard too. When we baited Scot hooked 2 more mahi and we got them both. On our way in we took a mahi hit in the blind and Bob landed one more. These folks have been with us before and did great this time too. Congradulations on your marlin Bob see you next time you make it over here. Aloha Capt Rusty

At first light off we go on this day of 30 kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a 4 banger shibi and got 3 of them. Then a mahi ate a lure right behind the boat and came aboard. A few more shibi and we got out of dodge and headed in as it was super rough but everyone was doing great, even Vicki who was enjoying the big waves on her first time out. On our way in we found an open school and got a mahi in it, good going.    Aloha Capt Rusty

It was still dark as we took off on this day of 30kph trades going to my old favorite buoy. Along the way we found an open school and got 1 mahi. At the buoy we took a double mahi and got them both. Then we jigged and got 3 more mahi. It was super rough out there today and the rain squalls just kept coming by. On our way in we got one more mahi and a big ono just outside the harbor, Mark landed it a nice 33 pounder, our largest to date this year. Good going you guys did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was a rainy morning as we took off with 25+ trades blowing as we headed for the west side to try to hide from the wind. We jiggged and caught 2 small shibi and 1 mahi and 3 aku near the point, Then the wind chased us deeper down the west side, we found some porpoise but got no bites. On our way back to Haleiwa we caught a mahi and a nice size shibi. These folks did great on this rough windy day of big seas and rain, good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  The Hugo Family Mike, Carol, Julie and Mark caught 4 mahi and 1 barracuda for and fun filled day with whales porpoise and turtles
We left in the dark on this day of 25+ trades going to the west side to hide from the wind. We jigged and hooked an aku but it came off right at the boat. Then we trolled out and around and took a mahi hit in the blind and Mark landed the first fish. We then went to the ledge and baited and had a screamer on that went down and probably got eaten by sharks bummer. When we baited again we caught a small barracuda, and saw a huge school of porpoise putting on a good show for us. Then on the tip of Kaena point we had 3 whales come along side us and follow us for half a mile. They were coming up as close as 10 to 15 yards off our beam, and they were rolling over and puting on a great show. Then as we headed home we took 3 more mahi hits in the blind and got all 3. These folks did great today they were a pleasure to have aboard. Aloha Capt Rusty
