It was a rainy morning with 25+ kph trades blowing as we took off headed to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we baited and hooked a few mahi before one stayed on and came to the boat. More baitin but no more bites so we set up and trolled. We found one open school but it broke up before we could get there. we did see a few whales on the inside. These guys did great with the rough water today good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

The buoy was dead so we came back to the ledge and baited. a nice 40 pound ono hooked up and Ken landed it easily. Then a monster 63 pound ono hooked up and David reeled it in and we got it, a new boat record for us. Then we baited for a long time without a bite, and a hammerhead shark came around and chased out bait but did not bite it. The whale action was nonstop all day and we had some poroise come by to and put on a show for us. Back in the harbor David was the only one willing to eat an ono eyeball gladly, after I did. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Sonny Chitnis, Victor Taylor, David Miller and Kristofer Miller caught 1 409 pound marlin 2 mahi and 2 ono for a fantastic day of fishing today
In the first light off we go on this day of 25 kph trades going to the west side. On our way down the ledge we took an ono hit and land an ono. Then we end up way out and way down on the west side and we find an open school, Scot baits up 2 nice mahi and as we pull the last one in a big marlin shows up right behind the boat looking hungry. We quickly get a heavy leader and hook and toss out a bait, after some teasing it takes the bait and hooks up. It did not jump at all for the first 20 minutes, then it made some long runs and jumped some. Kris was the angler, for the first half hour of a 2 and 1/2 hour fight, then David took over and finished up. They both did great working on this big fish, Scot did do a lot of hand lineing to help them out. When it finally came to the boat it was mostly spent but was just so big it gave Scot a hard time at leader, but we got it. It weighed in at 409. Then on our way home we took another ono hit and Kris landed a 47 pound ono. A great day with whales all over too. In the harbor only Victor was game to eat a mahi eyeball gladly. Good going men you guys did super today. Aloha Capt Rusty
