At the appointed hour out we go on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we took an ono hit on our first pass and Heather landed it. We came back with bait and hooked a nice mahi and it came aboard. A few more passes and we hooked a few nice shibi and landed them. Then we had a big shibi on for 20 minutes but it just came off. Next pass a nice mahi ate a bait and joined us in the boat. We landed a couple more nice shibi then the aku boat came and had the small aku up and boiling, so we jigged up some aku and shibi around the aku boat for some fast action fishing. On our way in we found some mahi and Scot baited up a nice bully and it put on a show before it came aboard. In the harbor only Shane was bold enough to eat a mahi eyeball gladly, good going you guys all did great today. Aloha Capt Rusty

Another flat morning as we set out on this day of 10 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Ariving we baited and Scot hooked a nice shibi right away and we landed it. After a lot of baiting and no bites we jigged and caught a few aku and ran one live. Then we baited again and a big 85 pound shibi ate a bait and screamed out 200 yards. Then it was Drew in the chair for about an hour doing a great job on this big fish. Then Scot baited up a few more nice shibi Jim landed a 30 pounder and Drew landed a 47 on 50 pound test, these guys did great today on all these fish. On our way in we came across a big pod of pilot whales, we stopped and they just stopped too and it was alright till the big bully came and got between us and the pod and they moved off. Then we found an open school and Scot baited up 2 nice mahi and Drew landed them both. Good going guys. Aloha Capt Rusty

Our departure was timed perfectly on this day of 20 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On our way we baited up a nice mahi. At the buoy we baited and a big 37 pound bully ate a bait and Stephen did great landing it on light line. Then we baited more but nobody came so we set up and trolled to another buoy. There we took a triple small aku on big lures and landed 2 of them. We came back with bait but only small shibi and aku came up so we jigged and caught some small to medium aku and ran one live. Soon after there is a mahi on our aku Scot baits up 2 nice mahi and we land them both. On our way in we had a mahi hit but it came off right away. These guys did great today. In the harbor Stephen was the hold out, everyone else ate shibi eyeballs gladly, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

In the fading darknesss we got underway on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Getting there we baited and hooked an ono on 80 and landed it. Then a mahi came in and ate a bait and it came aboard. At this point it was a slow but steady bite with 30 pound shibi, these guys did great on these fish. We had a double mahi on bait and landed one. Good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

It was calm as we set forth on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. Ariving we trolled and Mark caught a nice ono on the first pass. When we baited a mahi came in and Ernie landed it.  Then a few nice shibi, and then a mahi came in and ate a bait and Mark landed another mahi. A few more nice shibi and then it stopped, so we jigged and caught 3 aku and ran one live. When we baited again Scot hooked four more shibi that came to the boat. These folks did great today on all these fish, good going. In the harbor only Mark could do it and eat a shibi eyeball with me, I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time we slipped out on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. There we baited and Scot hooked a few nice size shibi each pass for a while there, when it slowed down we jigged and caught one small shibi and one aku that we ran live. I had just mentioned that a marlin could come up and eat our aku at any time, and 5 minutes later there was a marlin on our aku. Scot dropped our bait back and it gladly swallowed it, when Scot set the hook it jumped and promptly ran around the buoy, I had to do some fancy foot work with the boat to get the line off the bouy, full thottle up and around the buoy while this big fish kept on jumping. When it settled down we got Warren in the chair and he had this monster back to the boat in 35 minutes, and it came up more dead than alive, the way we like them. these folks did great on all these fish today. In the harbor they all ate eyeballs out of the marlin and shibi gladly, good going.Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Stew Palmeri, Paul Bauer, Steve Manser and Rob Marchand caught 1 mahi 1 ono 8 aku and 1 shibi for a real fun day
We pulled out a shade late due to the fact that these guys got 2 warnings for speeding on their way here on this day of 15 kph variable winds going to my next favorite buoy. On the way we found 2 open schools but could not get them to go. At the buoy we baited and got bitten off, so we came back with bait on a wire and got no bites. So we jigged and caught some small aku and 1 shibi and ran an aku live. Nothing came around so we set up and trolled to another buoy. When we baited there an ono grabbed a bait on 80 and Paul landed it a nice 27 pounder, it was a gift from the fish gods as it was hooked so the line did not go near the teeth. Next pass and 2 mahi show up and Scot hooks them both, and they go in different  directions, Stew's came off right at the boat and Steve landed a nice 27 pounder. Back in the harbor everyone except Stew gladly ate eyeballs and Rob even had 2, good going men you guys did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dark it was as we slid out on this day of 10 kph variable winds going to my next favorite buoy. Arriving we baited and Ed caught a nice mahi on our first pass, then we had more bites that came off, so we trolled to another buoy. There we jigged and caught an aku and ran it live, and baited, lots of bites but no hookups for a long time then one bait got nailed 10 feet from the boat and stuck. Ed did great on this fish, a 30 pound shibi on 40 pound test. We baited a bunch more but no more hits. In the harbor Ed was bold enough to eat the eyeball out of his shibi, it didn't look easy but he did it, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Right on time we shoved off on this day of 15 kph trades going to my favorite buoy. On the way we found an open school but could not get them to bite. At the buoy we jigged and caught some small aku and ran 2 live. When Scot baited nothing came up so we set up and trolled outside to about 25 miles out. A few aku schools is all we found out and back to the buoy. There we jigged and caught a few more aku, these folks did good on these fish. On our way in we got to give a small boat a tow into the harbor, no oil in outboard not good. Aloha Capt Rusty
