We got going at 5:30 on this day of 20 mph se winds going to the J buoy. On the way we took a stripper hit just as Scot put the lures out at the crack of dawn but it took some line and came off. At the buoy we took no hits so we jigged and got some small shibi and ran them live. Then we baited and got some bigger shibi and aku, when they slowed down we went back to jigging and got a few more bigger shibi on lures. On our way in we stopped at a crab trap and caught some opelu, and while doing that some small mahi came around an we managed to hang on to 6 of them before a shark and a porpoise showed up and the party was over. In the harbor there were no eyeballs consumed. These guys did great reeling all these fish in. Greg and Bill live here and are regulars with us. It's been one hell of a year for us, let's hope next year is even better. Happy New Year. Aloha Capt Rusty

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge  Scot Sprecher, Jeff Coleman, Norm and Brad Sprecher, Paul and Clay Coleman caught 15 shibi and 15 aku and 35 opelu for a great day
We got underway at 5:00 on this day of 20 mph se winds going to the J buoy. We started out with the light tackel jigging and then went to bait. The bigger shibi were up and biting good, Scot was hooking up 2 and 3 at a time with some help from Brad. There was lots of screaming little reels going on, it was as good as it gets for a shibi bite at the buoy, and we had it all to ourselves. On the way in we got 35 opelu at a crab trap for some more fun. In the harbor not only did all the guys eat eyeballs out of big shibi so did Wendy, I like it when even the gals join in. As usual Scot was feeding our pet turtle as part of the post game show. This was day 4 for these guys and they had really gotten tuned in to our routine, and did a great job reeling all those fish in. Good going men, see you some time next year. Aloha Capt Rusty Happy New Year and don't explode any thing I wouldn't.

We got going at 5:00 on this day of 20 mph se winds going to the J buoy. We started off with the light line and got some small shibi right away. When we baited we got 2 nice shibi on the first pass, then one and a nother one and then they stopped biting. We set up and trolled to the X bouy and baited there but nobody was home so back to the J we went. We baited and jigged but got no hits so we went in to a crab trap and baited up 26 opelu and ran one live for a shark, but only one swam by and did not take it. In the harbor only I ate an eyeball. These guys did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:15 on this day of 10 mph se winds going to the J buoy. No hits on the big lures so we jigged and got a nice shibi on the first pass with the light line. We tried bait but no takers, so back to jigging, and then we got some small shibi and ran them live. We baited again and then something grabbed one of our baits and took some line but it came off when we went to set the hook. We got a few more nice shibi jigging, then Scot got them to bite on bait for a few passes. No hits on the way in, but we did get 2 opelu (makerel) at a crab buoy. In the harbor both Erinn and Robert were up for eating shibi eyeballs. These folks did a great job of angeling these fish, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:30 on this day of 20 mph trades going to the II buoy. No hits on the first pass so we jigged and got some aku  and ran them live. It wasn't long before something ate it and ran some line out, as Norm reeled it up it turned out to be a shark. It cut the leader as it came close to the boat, and never did bother us again. Then we baited and started getting some bigger shibi on light line, that is always fun. After we had 6 nice ones they shut off, so we jigged a bit more and headed in. At the wave ball we got 3 small mahi to add to our bag. In the harbor Scot , Brad and Paul were game to eat eyeballs out of the shibi. These guys are real avid fishermen this is day one of  four days during their stay here. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got underway at 5:20 on this day of 20 mph trades going to the II buoy. We took 4 stripper hits on the way to the buoy but none of them stuck, bummer. No hits on the first pass, so we jigged and got some live aku and ran them out. Then we baited and got some bigger shibi and aku on the light line. Then a 14 pound mahi decided he was going to eat our live aku and hooked up on it. We baited some more till it slowed down, then on the way in we hooked a small mahi at the wave buoy. Vaughn did real good reeling all those fish in, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 5:00 on this day of 15 mph winds going to the J buoy. We got to the J at the begining of first light and took one hit that came off so we jigged and got 2 aku and 2 small shibi. Then they quit biting so we went down to the II buoy where there were 6 boats already. We jigged and caught some small aku and shibi, then we baited and Scot hooked up two bigger shibi on sardines. Then the 7 pound aku were what was up and we got some of them. then a few more big shibi came up and we got 2 more. On our way in we found a school of big aku but they were chasing flying fish and did not bite for us. In the harbor only Mark was up for a shibi eyeball this time.
